This location is something else altogether. They really don’t care what they serve you or how it’s served.
I came here and ordered the Healthy garlic shrimp and Kalua pork. Every kalua pork I’ve tried at L&L and elsewhere had been moist and shredded… that experience has made me love kalua pork. The kalua they served here was dry and old.
Their “healthy” garlic shrimp came out deep fried. I notified the counter person that we had ordered the “healthy” version and he told me that we had received the healthy version. I told him, “but it’s deep fried.” He responded “It’s supposed to be deep fried.”
His response left me questioning myself as to whether I was the one who had made the error in ordering.
But then, I looked up at the menu and what did I see? An actual picture of the “healthy” garlic shrimp and it was not deep fried. I told him, “You have an actual picture of what I ordered and you can see it’s not deep fried.”
With that, he responded “Not all L&Ls are the same.
I remained quiet in hopes of resolving the matter amicably.
After a couple seconds, I asked if we could replace the order with something else. He reluctantly agreed (IMO because 4-5 different parties were seated and listening to our discussion) we asked for a kalua pork sub since the price was about the same and no place had ever done us wrong when it came to the kalua pork. This place was the first. After a couple of bites of their kalua pork, we left. The pic I included is the actual pork that was left over after a couple of nibbles. The replacement kalua pork went immediately into the garbage outside the restaurant as the counter person delivered it just as we were about to leave
Like most of you, I also rely on honest reviews in hopes of having a good experience (or to avoid bad ones).
For any visitor to the island, stay clear of this place. There’s probably a very good reason why the only other pic of any food is a stock photo from L&L Corp of Korean bbq ribs and not something that was actually served by the people at this location.
I guarantee you, if any other franchisee of L&L came to this place, they would mortified and the people at the Kapaa location would probably lose their contractual rights to continue as an L&L.
