I ordered food for my family and myself here today on January 11, 2026. I enjoy food here. While I was eating MY combo 2 meal. Almost halfway done. I happen to pick up a piece of the chopped cabbage and I looked and noticed something odd, so I flipped it around and there was a chopped up caterpillar. I immediately felt sick to my stomach. The only reasonable way something like that would be on the chopped cabbage With a chopped caterpillar. That only means that whoever is in the food service/prep here at L&L’s Hawaiian Barbecue is not thoroughly cleaning and rinsing the cabbage properly. I believe they just grab the cabbage out of the package or wherever it is Straight up like that without cleaning or rinsing it and just placed it on peoples’ plates. This is sickening and I hope and pray I don’t get sick.
You guys need to pay more attention to the food prep and make sure you guys are cleaning stuff and not that just chopping it straight up to just be a fast/Quicker service or whatever the reason was.

I originally left a 4 star review and had to change it to the current rating. I tried calling for 30 minutes to place my order and nobody would answer the phone. When I went in to place my order, they weren’t busy at all. Then I asked about their musubi party platter for $34.99, wanting to know if I can mix and match the types and the kid said they only have spam but when you look at the menu there’s 4 types. Then he just stared at the register screen for a minute and then said I don’t think you can. He never bothered to ask the manager!!! Guess he thought if he stared at the screen long enough it would produce an answer! I ordered the chicken katsu and kimchi and the katsu was good but the kimchi was shit!!! As a Korean I found their kimchi horrible and offensive. I can’t believe that’s the crap they’re selling for kimchi!!! Also the size is tiny!!! For $3 I’d expect a little more than a sauce container full!!!!

Got a mixed plate, chicken was burnt, and rice had hard pieces of crispy rice in some bites, like it wasn’t made fresh today. I still ate it, but I won’t be returning.

Food was delicious.! We got the Loco Moco with scrambled eggs. Yum! Taste like Hawaii Loco Mocos. The cooks had our food ready in minutes, however, the front counter was a little slow. Our food was just sitting there waiting to be bagged up. Very clean inside and welcoming.

My first time eating here was in LA so I was excited to try the one in Vallejo however my beef was over cooked but the chicken was fine. Their teriyaki sauce is super thin, it’s like they put water in it or something (unlike what I had in LA). Maybe I’ll try a different one but I think I’m done with the one in Vallejo.

Was greeted. Quick ordering. Got food within 10 minutes. All great. But my Lau Lau meal was Terrible, very little portion, dried out pork, just don’t offer it if it’s gonna be so bad. I’ve been coming here since day 1 and it’s been getting worst. Even the Benicia location is terrible. What’s going on with the food. I grew up in Hawaii. This post won’t let me add a picture.

Just went last Week and I went in feeling stupid trying to pull off a last minute get-together for a valued staff member at my dialysis treatment center and 15-18 other staff members. I came out very educated, because not only did they have the prices, clearly indicated, on the wall, they also had the small, medium and large aluminum family/Party size pans (shown on wall) to put the combo I purchased, in. I requested, but didn’t need a Manager. The Cashier was fully knowledgeable about what I was stumbling and stammering over. That took 5 minutes, including payment for the order, (with her suggestion) after telling her what I needed it for. She requested 20 minutes to prepare and I was on my way to the venue, in less, taking altogether a half hour. The meat was done and It was a hit!!!! They ARE a Great solution for last minute, especially when Grocery stores and caterers ask for 2 days! Marvelous job and I chose them for a Seafood combo and Loca Moco dish 2 days later, on Saturday.
