I stopped by L&L Hawaiian BBQ and ordered some of the classics I usually go for — loco moco, chicken katsu, and BBQ spare ribs. Like most Hawaiian plate lunches, everything came with the standard two scoops of rice and macaroni salad on the side, which is always part of the experience.
The loco moco was solid. The hamburger patty was cooked well, the gravy had decent flavor, and the egg on top tied it together the way it’s supposed to. It definitely hits that comfort-food craving. The chicken katsu had a good crispy breaded exterior and was cooked through, and the katsu sauce gave it that familiar sweet-savory balance. The BBQ spare ribs were tender enough and had a nice glaze, though I felt like they could’ve had a little more depth in seasoning.
Overall, it wasn’t bad at all — it satisfied the craving. That said, it’s not quite the same as the L&l’s you get back home in Hawaii. The flavors are good, but they don’t fully capture that authentic island taste and richness that makes plate lunches special. Still, for a mainland L&l’s, it does the job and offers a decent portion for the price. Solid spot when you’re in the mood for Hawaiian comfort food.

First time here and it was amazing. The loco moco is so good. I just think the beef patty was to small, but the flavor is on point . Chicken katsu the portions are great and taste great. The macaroni is delicious. Thank you.

I ordered from here on uber eats. I ordered a meat combo that was supposed to be $15. Somehow the order got placed as a half chicken for $75, and with fees and ad one came to $105. I cancelled the order within 60 seconds. They confirmed the order was cancelled but reported it to uber as “already being prepared” and still charged me $94. They were unwilling to figure out how to fix the situation. Horrible. But also who in the world charges $75 for a half lb chicken

Ordered the Loco Moco with an over medium egg via UberEats and it was decent. Not as good as in Hawaii of course. They do need to add salt, but I guess they leave that up to customer these days. Back in Hawaii though it was already seasoned. I had to add salt & pepper to this American version. I’ve eaten here about 3 times now and the only thing I can say is good is the BBQ Meats. Other than that, it’s not really food to get hype about honestly.
