Looking for something different just off 95 and this restaurant didn’t disappoint. Larger portions which I took half home. Ok I over ordered. I had the fried chicken which you have a white meat or dark meat option. I chose the dark meat and it was perfect. A lighter but delicious crisp crust and cooked just right and not dry at all. Came with a side of mashed potatoes and I asked to try the candied yams. Perfect match. Ok I ate starchy , I asked to try the meatloaf special (each night has different options) the meatloaf was a hulking piece smoothed in a sweet tomato sauce that lands somewhere between a light ketsup and a stewed tomato. I really enjoyed it and it wasn’t super sweet, I would normally add ketchup to meatloaf, this didn’t need it. The yams were still firm but cooked to be creamy with life left in them, some places over cook them too much, these were great. It’s very casual, it was quiet on a Wednesday at 6:30pm

This is the best country family restaurant off I-95 in Florence, SC. Ask for “Nicole”, you’ll love her and take all her recommendations, she knows the menu in first person. They serve true home made American cuisine. You will never stop at Cracker Barrel again if you are close to a Lizard’s Thicket Restaurant. Don’t worry about the amount of food they will serve you, you will it it ALL..!! Is delicious..! Everything is freshly made.

Just want to say we travel a lot and eat out a lot. I hate leaving bad reviews but try to be honest about it. This restaurant was the worst meal we have ever had. My husband got the baked ham, they asked if he wanted the red eye gravy because they would have to make it. Later he overheard the cook saying they didn’t know how to make it. His ham was dry and overcooked & super salty. More like a big piece of bacon. Collard greens were OK as was his salad. I had the Fried chicken which I couldn’t even eat. Looked and tasted like it had been reheated from days ago. The creamed corn and mashed potato were ok. We should have said something-but we didn’t. Our waitress acted like she didn’t want to be there. We were afraid all night long that we would end up with food poisoning. I went there on reviews I had read on Google. I’m not sure where those people ate. To be honest I would avoid this restaurant at all costs.

So my pop has been all over the world including the USA and he knows the best places to eat! He recommended this spot and I was not disappointed. The food and service was fresh, fast, and delicious. The portion was enough for two people but I indulged and ate it all by myself. This has become my new favorite place when visiting Florence. And I guarantee it will be yours as well if you try the “ham and eggs.”

If you are on diet or cant eat too much.they have small plate with a good price..you can choose one meat (smoked sausage,fried flounder,beef stew,fried chicken or baked ham) with two sides..
The cornbread is really good.
Before noon or during Sunday,you can order their small platter menu for less than 5$.. Ive ordered fried flounder ..with toast..scramble egg and mash potatoes..that was really good.
Last Sunday in March 2022 we found out that they have increased the price 1$ from the menu

Wanted to experience this restaurant after I saw all of the reviews and was not disappointed. I loved the collard greens so much that I asked for another helping. It was very well seasoned. The stuffing with giblet gravy was very delicious. As you can see I was satisfied and left stuffed! Overall the experience was great and Christy provided outstanding customer service. Will come again on my next trip to SC!
