10/5 star Dined here October 11th 2025. Had to wait until 11 to be served lunch and I had time to kill. Ordered the pork chop lunch. It was delicious, had collard greens, Mac and cheese, dressing and a side of potato salad. This is a 10/5 place to eat. The vibe was cool because it was a walk for cancer day I believe and the staff were very nice. Checked on me the right amount of times.

Arrived about 2pm. The waitress was friendly and helpful about options. The problem was when my salad came out. The shredded cheddar on top was green with mold. I flagged down the waitress and sent the salad back. Another salad was brought out that was smaller. I had ordered baked chicken on it. Second bite of chicken had a sharp sliced piece of bone in it. I found 3 more pieces of bone. The manager apologized. But offered no excuse. The waitress took more accountability than management. She had to request from management to do something about the check. My salad was finally comped. I wasn’t asking for that. I wanted to know why something like that could happen. I couldn’t eat anything after finding the bones. I paid my bill and left a good tip for the waitress because she did her job and shouldn’t be punished for kitchen and management failing.

My first visit here. A bit hard to access. Staff was friendly upon entry. Women’s restroom was clean, with stocked tissues. Soap was out in one station. Waste container in stalls were full. Food came out hot and ready to eat. Lemonade was more like yellow lemon water. Tea was ok. I had the small dinner plate with 2 tenders collards and black eyed peas. Not too salty, very flavorful. Waiter and server were nice and very friendly. Food came out in less than 10 mins . Not too crowded. Very small seating area. Parking was tiny. They do have a drive thru. I don’t think I saw a wheelchair ramp. Located near the main highway. Great view of the city scapes. Clean tables and utensils. No senior or military discounts. Prices are very reasonable, so I recommend tipping. For 2 people I spent less than $25! Wow! No wait time on a Sunday evening. I will visit again

We have visited Columbia, SC twice in the past month. We had not eaten at Lizard’s Thicket before. We want to stay close to the hotel we were staying in and this seemed like a good local place to dine at. We were right! From the entrance, service, ordering, the quality of food, the price, and the departure, we were beyond pleased. Jeanna (spelling) made sure that we were properly taken care of. Her smile was infectious, the suggestions of food items were spot on, and she gave good directions too. We would recommend this Lizard’s Thicket on Elmwood as the place to dine to anyone that is visiting Columbia, SC.

First time visiting while on a trip, this place was amazing! Fried chicken, collard greens, Mac & cheese, and squash casserole were all delicious. Great service. Small town atmosphere and affordable!

Have eaten at Lizard’s Thicket for years and have witnessed firsthand the decline in quality of food and portion sizes. My recent stop for breakfast this week will be my last stop EVER at LT. I was extremely disappointed in my “country fried chicken steak breakfast” that had grits, biscuit, chicken steak and eggs.

Sounds great, right? Well, with coffee, that breakfast totaled out to $15!!!! Did I get $15 worth of food? No, I did not. I received the equivalent of a child’s plate worth of food for a king’s ransom.

Normally, after a “large” breakfast, i am not hungry for a good bit of time. However, due to the stupidly small portion sizes (and oversized prices) I was hungry two hours later.

I remembered to tip my server $3 on this horrible meal, brining my total to almost $20 for a very SUBPAR, disappointing breakfast. No wonder the dining area was basically empty on a weekday morning in the city. Poor servers, having to work for peanuts. Shame on businesses for paying these workers $2.19 an hour and expecting customers to tip the rest of their wages. My server told me that her tips have dipped since the food prices went up and the portions went down. Her regulars are no longer coming in to sit and eat. I wonder why??

We arrived at 3:30pm. Prompt service. Delicious food. If we lived in this town we would come here all the time. Absolutely delicious flavoring and crust on the chicken strips. Excellent variety of sides. The cornbread tastes great, not floury or like a box mix.

I’m generally not into southern food however this place was pretty good. We order the fried chicken which was well seasoned and fried. Our chicken was not dry at all. I ordered their Small plate which was perfect size for me. Sides we ordered were also well made and fresh.

Staff was attentive and our waitress was very friendly , attentive and chatty. Not just with us but all her tables. She had great energy. I would definitely come back just because of how welcoming they are here.

Looked up the best soul food restaurant and I picked Lizarrd’s Thicket Restaurant an wasn’t disappointment. I had the baked chicken, rice and gravy, cornbread dressing and collard greens. The baked chicken (white meat) was seasoned well, cornbread dressing with gravy is like mom’s on Thanksgiving Day. I had so much food had to take some home. I got the carrot cake to go and that carrot cake was good. The restaurant was about 95% full. You won’t be disappointment if you go there. They also have breakfast.
