My husband and I love to eat at the Luzard Thicket. My daughter and I were in Columbia for the Walk for Peace and stopped in for lunch. She had not been before and let me tell you she cleaned her plate.

The food is good for breakfast and their lunch/dinner menu. I have eaten their breakfast for their cheese eggs but lately the eggs havent been as creamy. They were like WOW! Before (eggs can do that to a person) Now they’re just good. The atmosphere is dated but I haven’t been to the updated location in Lexington yet. Food other than breakfast is a little better than your typical fast food spots and they have your food ready in about the same amount of time as fast food. The service is always with a smile and those servers will look at you, lock eyes and then read your mind! Next thing you know, you got exactly what you wanted and didn’t even ask for it. Lol. I definitely recommend them. They pretty much have something for everyone.

The food was pretty good for the price. A few of the fried items were cold when we received them. Waitress was a delightful person and took good care of us

A country comfort food chain. The Food was for the most part tasty across the board. A lot of things were premade. Some stuff was made in house. Prices and portions are good. Pretty inexpensive for a nice meat and three sides meal. Had the chicken fried steak, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and pickled beets. For dessert the chocolate cake was the best part of the meal for me. If you don’t wanna break the bank and have a decent country style meal check it out. However I’d be willing to search a little harder next time for a mom and pop local restaurant that has more homemade stuff with a bit more soul!

While traveling my husband and I always try to visit local establishments vs chain restaurants for better food, service and alike. This morning we visited the Lizard’s Thicket for breakfast and sadly we were very disappointed. The French toast was soggy in the middle, the ham was dry and tasteless and I had to send the eggs back to the kitchen because of runny whites (i asked for hard overeasy and stated i didn’t necessarily need runny yolks). My husband’s sausage were also tasteless. The waitress was sweet and seemed understanding, stating thier ‘regular’ cook was not there today. Maybe this was the reason for our breakfast experience. We probably will not visit again for awhile and try other local eatery’s.

We chose here cause nobody could agree on what to eat for lunch. The server was great. She kept our tea filled and got all the food right when it was brought out. Hubby has the veggie plate. The said greens had vinegar, the okra and tomatoes was alright, cabbage was good and the mixed veggies were flaccid. If you want your steak fried you half to get the chicken fried steak. Not the country fried steak. So that’s what I got. Mashed potatoes were good with white gravy, the Alabama slaw was nothing but, lettuce shaved really thin and 1000 island dressing squirted in the middle, the skillet apples were good. As you can see they have corn MUFFINS that’s a deal breaker for my hubby. For my best friend she loves them. If you like city ham for dinner get that cause it was good. Again, had a gluten free friend and he got the baked chicken breast. He said it was good. Mac and cheese looked on the dry side. Cornbread dressing is a NO. But, pork chop is bone in if you like that kinda thing.

This was a very disappointing experience from start to finish. The lady at checkout was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I walked to the gentleman to pay, she immediately complained that we “skipped her,” even though we are the customers and it’s her job to direct people where to check out.
Then, while I was waiting for my friend to Zelle me and trying to use tap pay, she loudly announced “It declined!” in a rude and embarrassing tone. There was absolutely no patience or courtesy.
On top of the poor customer service, the food was absolutely disgusting. For the prices they charge, the quality should be much better.
Overall, the customer service and the food were both terrible. This place really needs better training and better standards.

I am from NC and every time I come down to visit family we always go to Lizards Thicket. It has always been a great experience until today. We had a wonderful waitress and everything seemed to be going smoothly until the manager screamed at her from across the restaurant. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant changed. Had he allowed her to do her job like she was doing I would have walked away ready to come back next time. But as for now I will NEVER come back. The waitress was clearly rattled and embarrassed at how he was treating her. I don’t know his name but I will have to admit I wanted to take that little short man out back and show him how to treat people especially a young lady that was doing a great job. Everyone should stop going to this company if this is how they treat their employees as well as the disrespect towards the customers that were there. Our waitress was a very sweet young lady with awesome manners and great work ethics. I can’t remember her name but she had dark hair and was wearing glasses. I own a restaurant myself and I would never allow this kind of behavior. Shame on you Lizards Thicket.
