Great hole in the wall for some tasty BBQ! I had the pulled pork plate with Brunswick stew and fried okra. Everything was delicious and good size portions. Other reviews about ‘not enough sauce’ are a bit odd. The sauce was rather light but I would suggest doing exactly as I did and go ask for more sauce lol. Staff was friendly and the ambiance was nice with country music coming through the speakers. I would definitely like to see the place get a good deep cleaning though. The vents had a lot of greasy dust built up and the rest could use a little TLC but overall a great experience! I’ll be back 🙂

Driving through Cedartown after finishing work on the bridge project, the smell of smoke led me to a hidden BBQ gem. The friendly lady at the drive-thru recommended the “Hot Mess”—and it was fantastic! Tender BBQ, homemade chips, and full of flavor. You can dine in, take it to go, or enjoy the small outdoor seating area. If you’re in the area, don’t miss it. I’m already planning to return for breakfast!

Old time style and comfortable atmosphere. The food is GREAT! The folks here make their own BBQ sauces and each one is delicious!! From the fried okra, the homemade Mac n Cheese, and pulled pork, you won’t leave here disappointed IF you know & love real southern food.

Our “go to” is the pulled pork sandwich. Well smoked, but still juicy. And their sauce is almost as good as mine! But the star of this show has always, and always be, the fried okra! Skip all the other (very good) sides and get a big ol’ grease-soaked paper sack of fried okra! Occasionally on the right side of too salty, but that just requires a bigger swig of their sweet tea. Thirty minute drive for us, but worth the trip.

First time ordering, I got the hickory fries and a sweet tea. It’s located in a convenients spot. Loved it has a drive thru. The food was so yummy. So fresh.

Stopped at this hole in the wall barbecue place on our way to Alabama. What a little gem. You can see the smoker in front of the small restaurant. The place feels warm and inviting. Very rustic. The owner gave us plenty of time to make up her mind. We ordered the beef plate and the pulled pork plate. They do not have brisket but the beef was just as good if not better. The place was packed, it was around 11:30. I also noticed a steady stream of people going through the drive-through. Our food arrived quickly. I loved the large selection of barbecue sauces that were available. The one labeled “Shack” is an absolute hit. The food could have been a bit warmer but overall the quality was good. The Brunswick stew resembled more a soup than a stew, a few more ingredients would’ve been great. The owner came out and asked if everything was OK. Very friendly and attentive. I love these little hole in the wall places. Keep up the good work!

This is the 273rd BBQ restaurant I’ve dined in. And I’d say it’s on the upper end of the middle of the road. The que was good, but they’d do themselves a favor by serving it dry and letting the diner choose the sauce. Their choices are good, and several are better than the house sauce that comes on the sandwich. I scored it a 7.9/10. Esthetically, it’s a cool little place resembling old timey. They just need to figure out how to speed things up. Priced well, i didn’t feel cheaped. Sides were good and the selection was decent.

I’ve never had bbq with this lack of sauce. Ridiculous. $47 for 2 pork plates, pork sandwich, and 2 drinks. Even more ridiculous.

Even though we live less than 20 minutes away, this was our first time eating at Lively’s, but it certainly won’t be our last! We were very impressed with this cute little BBQ and breakfast joint located at the end of Cedartown’s downtown area.
We had breakfast, and it was down-home delicious! My husband said his bacon was cooked perfectly and the biscuits were done up just right! The lady who took our order at the register was super friendly, helpful, and patient. She let me substitute tomatoes for the meat on my breakfast platter, with no issue at all. A lot of places cause such a fuss if you ask for some smaller item in place of the meat, but she happily did it for me…and let me just tell you, that tomato was vine-ripe yummy cut up in my biscuit and gravy! Our daughter also enjoyed her jelly biscuit and breakfast potatoes very much.
The inside of the adorable cabin was clean and charmingly decorated with a wholesome Southern bbq/pig theme. The drive thru window stayed busy with a steady flow of customers the whole time we were there, so apparently it’s no secret that this little gem is a local favorite. We will be back for sure!
