“Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!” The Live Oak Tabern hit a home run tonight as its new Thursday Fried Chicken offering/sides were great! The Chicken was fried, but also moist (not easy to do)! Loved tbe biscuits and suggest cold butter besides the melted warm offering. We ordered the smaller bucket and left and very satisfied. Live Oaks Monday $1 Chicken Wings are now complimented by their Thursday chicken buckets! Great idea/offering!

Brunswick stew was more like a soup but really really flavorful. I liked it more than typical Brunswick stew. I would suggest the smash burger be smashed thin and cooked for a much shorter time. Price for lunch was extremely reasonable and the service was great.

A quaint busy restaurant with an indoor and outside seating view of the pier. Staff were great, and the food came quickly. We had a reuben on our first visit. It had great flavor with lots of meat and sauerkraut. The bread was toasted, but the bottom was a little soggy.

Decent sized bar with a fair amount of choices for food and drinks. I imagine it’s busier at night as we visited in the early afternoon on a Monday. I enjoyed the lunch menu with soup, entree, and my of beer. The chicken sandwich was tasty, fried were seasoned and thicker cut, and my girlfriend enjoyed the crispiness fish sandwich. It’s a good dive spot for anyone in town.

The Live Oak Tavern has been on my radar as a new spot on the island as we’re always looking for good food in the neighborhood. Popped in, later one evening after work and was pleasantly surprised at how great the atmosphere and food was. I was tempted by a burger after the owner explained that they were all fresh angus burgers but I opted for the tacos instead. Before ordering I asked if the fish and shrimp were local and was told exactly where it came from on the island so I went for a fried fish, a fried shrimp, and splurged my waistline and added a steak taco. The fish and shrimp were cooked perfectly with excellent seasoning and the taco add ons made them definitely one of the best/if not the best fish and shrimp tacos on the island and in the area.
All of the staff was very friendly and I can’t wait to come back to test out the new patio and garage doors that will open out to the patio. You can tell a lot of work went in to renovating it from the old restaurant they took over. Nice large clean booths to bring the family for a nice dinner out.
The rest of the menu looked great and I can’t wait to come back with the wife and kiddo to try out more of the items on the menu.

Food was amazing! Great flavor! And Izzy our server provided AMAZING service! Super laid back atmosphere with GREAT food! My husband and I shared a chopped wedge salad and fried pickles for an app. The salad was fresh and crisp and very balanced with ingredients. The fried pickles were great! Thick pickle slices and the coating was so crisp and light, served with a spicy ranch that was perfect! He ordered the turkey club pita and I had the Philly, I am a meat and cheese only girl. Both of us had fries as a side. My Philly had amazing flavor and the meat was tender and juicy. My husband’s pita was amazing he said. Full of flavor, soft pita and plentiful with turkey. Fries were crisp and nicely seasoned. We will definitely put this place on our list of go to’s on SSI. And ask for Izzy! She is sweet and a hustler! Can’t wait to try the fish and chips next time.

Stopped by for the first-time last week and it was pretty good. The server was awesome, but you could see she was really moving around to help the customers and there was only 1 other server, and they were very busy. I got the burger, and it was pretty good, the fries were slightly over cooked, and the portion could have been a little bigger. My friend got the shrimp & coleslaw appetizer, that looked very good, and he really enjoyed it.

Here during the day for lunch. Outside seating was open. Fried pickles rock! The double smash is great. Can see why it’s winning rewards. Tea is perfectly sweet not too sweat. Taylor was a excellent server. Will visit again soon.

We walked in, saw the sign that said to seat ourselves, and sat at a table. Over 20 minutes later, when no waitress came to our table, we left. At one point the waitress looked at us, but didn’t acknowledge us. Not even an, “I’ll be with you in a minute.” She just looked at us, then looked away, then cleaned a dirty table. The place was empty, so it wasn’t a case of her being busy. She spent more time talking to the bartender than walking by the tables. DO NOT GO HERE!
