The food and service left a lot to be desired. For the price, I was expecting to get a decent amount of food that was high quality. That was not the case at all. A little chicken with lots of onions and celery for $10, no rice. The lady working was also really rude, which was the worst part of the entire experience. If the food isn’t the greatest, but those that work there are nice…I will always give a place a second chance. I will never go back to Liu’s, which is a shame since it’s so close to where I live. I will never recommend it to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere else.

I ordered fried calamari and San Diegos famous salted pepper chicken. I had their salted pepper chicken once before a few months back, and it was good. Today, not at all.
And the calami was even worse.
The calamari tasted like freezer burnt fish sticks. Except it costs almost $16.00.
I love to support small businesses. And I love supporting local businesses even more, but almost $34.00 later, my food was cold, stale, and I had to put it in the toaster oven in order to try and make it crispy.
And the portions were very, very small. Not that it mattered though.
Sooo disappointed. I have video of the entire experience if you’re interested.

This is a small business with authentic Chinese Restaurant flavors. If you want fancy and premade panda type, this is not the place. People complaining of no rice, should read the menu. There are plates with different items including rice. If you order just a chicken order, it will be just chicken. Very simple. Family meals include many of the traditional dishes including rice. Meals also include rice and/or noodles. Single items, are single items. Love the fried rice, just like at old traditional large Chinese restaurants. Only complaint- fried shrimp are more fry than shrimp and kind of dry. All else is very tasty and fresh. Counter lady is not Ms Congeniality. She cooks Chinese Food, Good Chinese Food. People that don’t like it, it might be because they are used to the bland chain restaurant packaged stuff.

The first time I was there I ordered salt and pepper chicken to go. I didn’t pay attention to the decor, and the chicken was awesome. So I went back a week later to order dinner, this time though I noticed the place looked very run down and I noticed boxes piled up behind the counter where customers can see them. Made we wonder what the back looks like. I ordered the Egg Flower Soup which I didn’t care for seemed kinda bland, but my Chicken Chop Suey was very good. My husband ordered #1 BBQ Fried Rice,Chicken Cantonese,and Egg Roll, he didn’t care for it. The people were very nice and the service was good. I’d go back again, but I’m concerned about the cleanliness of the place. It seemed ok just very run down and like I said, boxes piled up like that….I hope they do something soon,but in the mean time…I probably won’t go back.

I’ve been going here since they opened. Great food reasonable prices. The salt and pepper chicken wings are awesome. Taste amazing and are huge. Husband and wife run the place it’s not fancy just good.

Will not recommend this place even to my worst enemy. Never seeing red Chinese fry rice like this. No taste, no flavor. Egg foo yung was just a piece of thick tortilla no eggs.

The rice was gross!! It had a scorched taste and it was so so dark in color. I wouldn’t recommend this place to feed a dog. The orange chicken had no flavor. Panda Express seems like a 5 star restaurant compared to this garbage place!!!!

This is a small business that at first glance because of the non-modern look can turn people away. But I always think not to judge a book by its cover. From our experiences, many of the items that we have ordered for parties in the last 10 years have been great especially the salt and pepper wings. Of all the salt and pepper wings we have had throughout San Lui’s has always been the best hands down. We started calling it “crack chicken” , you just can’t get one. The prices are reasonable as well. If you’re looking for ambiance and a fancy experience, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for good food to bring good people together and lasting memories, then we recommend and suggest to stop by Liu’s.

To be honest, I came here since it showed 4 stars. Food is edible but not good. Whoever says it’s good does not know what good food is. Put it this way, McDonalds, Jack in the box, or Carl’s would have been a major upgrade. Food tastes like the place looks.
