We ordered the food and waited 45 min for the appetizers to arrive while we watch other people that had come after us being served. How long does it take for spring rolls to be done? it was ridiculous. The portions of the entrees were too small for the price. I ordered cashew chicken and cashews were sauteed in sugar, why? Anyway, we are not coming back there any time soon.

I absolutely love the Little Szechwan. My family has been loyal customers since I was a child, and now that I live in the suburbs – I come here all the time with my husband. The food is consistently fantastic and the staff is kind and accommodating. I live in Lake Bluff and find the commute to Little Szechwan 100% worth it every time.

This little gem is a must visit restaurant if you are around Highland Park area. Being a vegetarian, I am often put off by the limited menu in any Chinese restaurant which goes with Little Szechwan too. Fortunately, the atmosphere, service, and the food were terrific. We ordered Hot & Sour soup, vegetable dumplings, and two entrees; each item was well prepared and very palatable. I will make another visit to this restaurant.

Food is good, when you get it. Extremely slow service. They take favorite customers and takeout before other seated customers. The last two out of three times I’ve been there I’ve waited for an hour for my food. this last time it took 30 minutes for the appetizers to come out and then another 30 for the remaining food. When we asked for the fourth time for the appetizers, the lady asked if we still wanted them.. she blamed the takeout orders as reason for the delay. Terrible service. We ordered at 6 p.m. and at that time there was only one other table occupied. Really?? I The emperor’s shrimp and szechuan green beans are very good. Mongolian beef with tasty but too many onions. The eggplant was meh. We will not be coming back, at least for dine in.

Little Szechwan is Highland Park treasure. Food is excellent. Have been dining there, both in and takeout for over 30 years. Owners are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Excellent food! Ordering by phone can be very tricky. Their English is not the best, so ordering may take some time and possibly not be what you intended. I wish they’d have someone more English fluent take orders because the food and quality is OUTSTANDING!

What Happened?? We have been going there for years.. Apparently they have a new investor/owner. She was so rude and condescending to my elderly father it was unreal!!
She complained that we wanted to much sweet sauce and blamed us they screwed up our order!! We spent $75 and everything was just”off”.

Surprised by the rating others gave after dining here. I ordered the eggplant dish and it was oily and bland. Asked for extra spicy and not even mildly spicy. Tried other dishes and also bland.
