Highly recommended
It was small, very dirty and stank horribly. The bathroom is right over from the dining area and it has just a curtain.
We ordered
summer rolls – 2/5
I cannot pin point why but they were the worst summer rolls we’ve had within and outside of India.
Pho – 1/5
It was highly disappointing . The herbs and sprouts were served already in the soup. The flavor was fine but not worth the money.
Baguette -4/5
It was fine
Mooncake – 5/5
This was the only redeeming quality of the evening. We liked it a lot and also ordered extra to take home.
I will not be visiting again.
If you are looking for a fancy place, this is not the one for you. But if you are looking for something homely, then definitely make a visit. There are just 3 tables and everything is made fresh. The lady, who said she is a chef from Vietnam, was helpful in explaining some of the dishes.
We chose to have the Xoi Man ( sticky rice with pork floss), the Tom Xao Xa OT ( stir fried prawns in lemongrass) and a Banh Mi Saigon ( pork).
The sticky rice with pork floss is a fabulous combination of rice, with pork clay pot, pork sausages, scrambled egg and topped with pork floss. The sauce is essentially the sauce from the pork clay pot.
The prawns were decent but I didn’t get the lemongrass flavouring.
The Banh Mi was great. Lovely crusty fresh bread ( that her friend bakes for her) with a generous helping of Pate, veggies and pork. The sauce is sweet and salty and brings things together quite nicely.
Next time, I will try the summer rolls…they looked good ( I snuck a peak at it when it was going to another table)!.
We started with Bahn Mi (pork) which is similar to subway with a crispier bread followed by Tom Xao Xa Ot (spicy lemongrass prawns) if you like spicy salty food this is a good choice. Though the food seems of less quantity, still it was quite filling. For drinks we tried Nuon Tac Gung (fruit juice with ginger) has quite a refreshing taste, however, there was too much ice in the drink which i’m not a fan of. As for dessert we had Durian cake which was tender and tasty, however the quantity was quite less, I couldn’t get enough of it.
The service was quite fast, the food was tasty, only if they renovate a little it would be a cute little restaurant in Hauz Khas with 2 really adorable and sleepy dogs
