Little Red Hen is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner is very nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Amazing fried chicken. Must come back. 10/10.

The youth behind the counter was very friendly and the place is really cute and clean (if a little pricey – $18 for some tenders, fries and a Coke?!?) Unfortunatley, the chicken tenders were like little pieces of deep fried shoe leather (however the fries were cooked perfectly!!) I was running late for an appointment thus didnt have the time to say something in the moment. I will definately give them a 2nd chance though.

Great food and service. I can see why this has been a staple in the community for 50+ years. If you want fine cuisine, this is not it. If you want southern comfort food nestled away in Glencoe, you have found a hidden gem. Reasonably priced too!

Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, didn’t get a receipt, ended up getting charged $15.00 for what turned out to be a very underwhelming chicken sandwich.
Meet was chewy and had cartilage, so almost half was inedible.
The menu board doesn’t have any prices on it.
Menu posted online has different prices than what I was even charged. Huh ♂️

Let me start by saying the man running Little Red Hen was unbelievably rude — not just having a bad day, but legitimately hostile. From the moment I walked in, he acted like I was a burden for even showing up. When I politely asked where the trash can was, he actually complained about having to answer the question — like I was somehow bothering him just by asking.
Then when my friend came in and asked the same basic question, he straight-up got angry and visibly irritated, like we were causing him a personal offense just by existing in his restaurant. It was so uncomfortable and honestly shocking.
The food? Not worth a dime. Mediocre, bland, forgettable. Definitely not anything close to what they charge — and that’s the next problem. The prices are completely made up on the spot. There’s no price list, no receipts, nothing clear. You get handed a total out of thin air, and if you question it, good luck. He acts like you’re insulting him just for asking.
The whole experience was shady, disrespectful, and ridiculously overpriced. I left feeling disrespected, scammed, and honestly kind of grossed out by the whole interaction. I don’t know how a business like this keeps going — maybe people are too shocked to say anything.
Bottom line: Don’t go to Little Red Hen. Unless you like being treated like garbage and overpaying for mediocre food, spend your money somewhere that actually appreciates its customers.

This is a place that I’ve grown up with so there might be some bias, but I definitely think this is the one restaurant with the real hometown aesthetic (not the Hometown cafe, oddly enough). Very welcoming staff especially on busier days, and very solid fried chicken and gyros.

The owner makes up prices on the spot. I ordered a teriyaki chicken breast sandwich with bacon. He said it would be $20.00. I asked if he was kidding? He said no, it will be the best sandwich you ever tasted. It was the worst. I refuse to eat there and will not let my kids eat there. Didn’t even come with fries.

While I feel they would get less hate if they adverized their prices. The food is great, made fresh. The place is homey and the owners are very lovely filled with personality. Try the fried chicken and mushrooms you wont regret it.

I love this place! Small, family owned business, and everyone is super friendly! I agree with everyone that prices are sky high; however their tasty food and large portion sizes makes up for everything. Try their steak fries and thin crust sausage pizza.

Food is good but the person on the phone was so rude. Our delivery hadn’t arrived after the promised delivery time, so I called because the kids were hungry and the man who answered the phone didn’t even say hello. Picked up the phone with “you’re going to have to wait a minute before your order goes out.” Hello or we’re sorry it’s late would have been more appropriate. Unfortunately the food doesn’t make up for the poor service.
