I got the Pulled Pork Plate with 2 Sides and a Sweet Tea. I also ordered an extra side. If you’re a Veteran like me , your drink is free. The Pulled Pork was tasty and a good portion and they give you a bun even though you didn’t order a sandwich you have bread to go with it. I ordered Hush Puppies as my bread , but still ate the top bun with my meal. Hush Puppies were pretty good when warm , my last one when it cooled down then tasted a little oily so eat them while they’re hot.
Usually I get a Pulled Pork Sandwich instead of a platter and have Slaw on it. Well I got a side of Slaw and it was Mayo style , not Vinegar style and I didn’t like it. The young lady let me replace them with the Beans and they were very good. Potato Salad was average , I like a little more mustard in mine.
Now for the BBQ Sauces. They have 5 BBQ Sauces which is a good variety to have. I liked the Hot , Vinegar , and Rob Sauce the most. For Pulled Pork I found if you mix the Hot and Vinegar Sauces it worked the best. If I would’ve had Brisket then the Rob Sauce would be my pick for it. The Mild was okay , but I prefer more of a kick. The Mustard Sauce was weak and not tangy enough and I usually like a good mustard sauce sometimes on pulled pork , but prefer the vinegar. Sweet tea ok , not too sweet like some places.
Overall it’s a well rounded bbq place. My total with tax was $19.70 with my free Veteran’s drink , pulled pork platter and 3 sides. I would like to come back and try the Brisket next time. I would recommend you giving it a try and support a local family business.
The portions here are fairly big and one can most definitely get a great and quick lunch here, and this sort of place works great if you’re out exploring the town and want to support a smaller business! Just look at the size of my sandwich in the picture! Potato salad and macaroni and cheese also made for some appetizing side items!
I don’t have super high standards for bathrooms or anything but I will give them props for a professional looking bathroom as well!
Room is limited, and most of the seating is small booths. They do have catering and take-out/pick-up. Large groups (more than 4) would be a challenge if they all want to sit together.
For $14 the portion of each size was embarrassing due to how small it was. Both tasted like prepackaged beans and Mac.
The pork sandwich was a decent size but ridiculously dry and the smoke was way off. I tried a few pieces off the sandwich to make sure it wasn’t just a fluke dry piece but they were all consistent.
One plus is they had 5 different bbq sauces to try, all which were the highlight of the dining experience. However not good enough to save the pork sandwich.
I finished the small sides of Mac & beans but couldn’t gather the courage to take a full bite of the sandwich.
I then went to the trash can and tossed my empty plate and full sandwich, which i left unwrapped in the trash, letting the female at the counter knowing that It was dry and didn’t taste right to me.
Her response was “aww, you didn’t like it!?”
I said, unfortunately not & left.
She didn’t offer to have me try something else in it’s place & was unbothered by the fact I didn’t even take a bite before throwing it away.
This combo of sides and pork was some of the worst bbq I’ve had in SC, in the last 15 years.
Prices and portions are reasonable and service was excellent!
Solid brisket, hot fries, crispy hush puppies and last but not least tasty add-your-own-sauce bbq (vinegar, mustard, etc.)
We’ll definitely be back!
Sides were adequate, but the pulled pork was solid. I sampled a bite of the brisket and found it flavorful, but a little dry. Sauce selection was good, vinegar, mustard, and two versions of tomato.
