I recently visited The Little Nugget in Danville, Illinois, after seeing it on TikTok, and it definitely lived up to the hype! This spot offers a unique dining experience—you get to cook your own steak. While that might be risky depending on who’s at the grill, as a former chef, I was ready to shine! Also $2 off if you cook it yourself!
Upon arrival, I walked into what appeared to be a bar and comedy club (possibly just a comedy club on Sundays). I opted to sit in the dining room, where the grill is located, and I’d recommend the same for anyone wanting the full experience.
They offer ribeyes in 8, 12, and 16-ounce cuts—naturally, I went for the ribeye. They also have a great selection of seasonings, which adds to the fun of customizing your steak.
Pro tip:
• Season generously, then baste with butter, steak seasoning, and Montreal rub throughout the cooking process.
• Let your steak rest for 6-8 minutes after grilling for the best flavor and tenderness.
The salad bar was fresh, well-stocked, and the perfect size—not overwhelming but with enough variety to stay interesting. Freshness is key for salad bars, and this one delivered.
The baked potato was fully loaded and surprisingly packed with flavor. They use both cheese sauce and shredded cheese, which was an unexpected but welcome touch.
Overall, I really enjoyed my visit. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was fun, and I’d absolutely return if I find myself in Danville again! Great food! Great peeps! Loved the steak cooking experience!

Our waitress was friendly and kept us updated on our food order, as we were there on a busy Saturday night. Food didn’t take terribly long to come out, but we were also preoccupied with the salad bar that comes with our meal. The food was good and we definitely ended up with leftovers.

For starters, it’s nothing like the original. Little nugget i ordered a 10 oz steak medium Well, and it came out well done, they finally came over and asked how things were and I told her the steak wasn’t done right? And they acted like they didn’t even want to cook me another so they did and it took 30 minutes so I didn’t get to eat with my girlfriend. No owner? No manager? Nothing came over and apologized. And I didn’t even get a discount on my bill.

Always a guaranteed successful visit. All three of us had Beef Wellington, a Mother’s Day special, and were very happy. Big hunk of meat, tender all the way through. Mushroom gravy was awesome! Salad bar was fantastic and fresh as always. And the staff were all magnificent!

First time here, found it by accident while traveling and it was the best decision ever to go there! There was so much to look at, the decorations were so neat. Love the hibachi style cooking in the dining areas where you can watch your steaks cooking! Salad bar was absolutely wonderful, servers super nice and our order was served hot, fresh, and as ordered without anything being incorrect. Fish was full of flavor, steak perfect, and my son ate every but of his food and he is the pickiest eater. Even bigger bonus, is that this is the first restaurant I didn’t half freeze while we were there. Seriously spent less money here (as a family of 4 getting huge portions and great quality food) than we spent getting a less than decent dinner at Pizza Hut. 10/10 recommend, we will definitely be going back, totally worth the drive.

We are camping down the road at Kickapoo state park and didn’t feel like making dinner, so we ordered food from here and picked it up. I had the burger and baked potato and hubby had the pork tenderloin and fries. They were both tasty. We would eat here again, maybe inside instead of takeout.
