Stopped up at Little Moose Restaurant & Lodge after a long day and it felt kind of like sittin down at somebody’s cabin kitchen. Food come out hot and tasty, good portions, not skimpy at all, and the steak and taters hit me just right. Folks there were friendly, talked to you like they knew you, and the place was clean and cozy with that woodsy feel. For the money I paid I walked out full and relaxed, I would not mind callin ahead and comin back here again.

We stopped by here after fishing off the river, food is really good and the atmosphere is amazing. The bartender is super nice and the chef is charming and a great cook! Stop by for great hospitality and good conversation! Had sports on the TV too. Good stuff.

I have a feeling that this is more of a barbecue meat place than a seafood place which is kind of funny since they have a few seafood dishes on the menu. We got the crab tots for an appetizer and they were okay. my wife and I had the dam cheeseburger and barbecue plate which I would rate for stars. But our friends had a salad with some salmon but the salmon was dry – two stars. We sat outside next to the little pond which was nice.

Stayed a few nights at the Little Moose Lodge. This place is easy to find. Easy to check in. The rooms are spacious and clean. The food is wonderful we had breakfast and then burgers and cocktails for dinner. Everything was cooked to perfection the staff is friendly and top notch. If you want a real burger cooked to your liking and homemade fries look no further.

I’m a local and I had high hopes for the new ownership. The food was a huge disappointment! The steak should not have served it was burnt. The Chicken Alfredo was at least edible, but extremely dry. The coconut shrimp was decent, but that’s because it and the sauce was pre-made.
As much as I wanted it to be great and give me options to the valley… it feel short.

The Little Moose…
What else can I say but, killer food, awesome service, and a great place. The location is just up the road from a hard day at Targhee, a killer day at the Village, or an awesome day catching big fish on the river. Its 100% worth a stop to enjoy great beers, awesome company, and food that’ll fill you up with enjoyment. It’s clean, well kept, and comfortable for anyone. Travelers or locals.
Drop in and say hello to the hard working folks at the Little Moose, you’ll enjoy it, no questions asked.

We had a pretty bad experience here. The staff was rude as soon as we walked through the door. One of them even disclosed to us that he was not happy to be there and how “cheap” the owner is. So that wasn’t a great first impression. But we stayed anyway cause we had rented a room there. We ordered some beers on tap, but the keg blew right away. We then ordered the salmon dip. It was not good. It was more like a paté covered in capers with sweet cornbread type triangles. Then we ordered the BBQ combo dinner to share. You’re supposed to be able to choose 2 meats with it. Come to find out, they were out of….well all the meats, except for brisket. So we got “double” the brisket. It was ok. The beans were dry and burned. The potato salad was….just kinda weird. Anyway, dinner was so terrible, we actually decided to pack our things and head home for the night instead of staying. It just tainted our stay completely. Would not recommend this restaurant.

Shared the French Beef Stew and large Mountian Salad w/a side of foccacia bread. Sat out on the back porch and everything was 5 star! The chef, Alfredo, came out and spoke with us; very kind and cordial, as well as a chef for 40 years. The service staff was very attentive and friendly, making the entire experience worthy of our Anniversary dinner! Thank You!

Little Moose is a must if your craving a burger or something special off the grill. The Dry Fly Burger was one of the best tasting blue cheese burgers I have ever had. Seriously, give this place some business!

GO TO THE LITTLE MOOSE! Stop thinking about it, and go. The food is magnificent, the service is exactly on point, and the ambiance is perfect for the setting. This is the restaurant you wish every other roadside restaurant was like. It’s not fancy, there is no pretense, no affectation, it’s just excellent cooking, and caring service. Everything is scratch made, the meats are cooked over wood, the sauces and pickles are made in house, the preparations are skillful and creative, the beer selections are all relevant… everything is just right. I had a barbecue platter with ribs, brisket, barbecue beans, and slaw, and every element was exactly what you would want it to be. My wife had a burger, and the attention to detail was exceptional. And did I mention it’s all cooked over wood! So GOOD! I have little reason to ever go back to Swan Valley, but I may just make one up, just so I can go here again! In the meanwhile, YOU should go, and I’m jealous if you do.
