We stopped for dinner Memorial Day weekend 2022 and and are delighted with this restaurant in Siren, Wisconsin.
Really, everything about it was above average, so where to start?
Best of all was the service. Skyler is a rock star. Because it was busy, we anticipated we might get slower service. Not at all. Skyler asked at least 5 times is we needed anything and got what we asked for immediately and with a super good attitude to boot.
Next on the happy list was the view. Amazing lakeside waterfront dining. The sun was starting to go down and so the view was amazing.
The dining room was clean as a whistle. We own a cabin so we know how hard it can be to clean up after the savages of winter.
Last but not least is the food.
We had the chips and guacamole appetizer, the Maria combo and a single beef taco. The guacamole was delicious, the salsa homemade and fresh and the chips were tasty and crunchy.
The enchiladas were top notch and authentic and the sauces were perfectly seasoned; not too hot but also not too mild or bland.
The taco was good. Nothing wrong with it, but could use a little more flavor.
As the sun was was setting over the water, we enjoyed the fried ice cream. For $3.50, we managed our expectations on size and quality. Again, we were delighted by a very large serving of absolutely wonderful dessert, large enough for two or more.

The restaurant is only open on Wednesdays. Although the website states they are open daily until 9 pm, that is untrue. Management, please update the hours of service.

Bar/restaurant right on the lake. Looks like a great place during the summer. On a Sunday in December it was dead. Very quick and pleasant service. Small menu but we liked everything wet tried. Hot sauce is hot, nice change.

We thought we would try Little Mexico on our way home traveling through Siren. The bartender greeted us and was friendly so kind of thought he may have been the owner. The restaurant was really nice and really clean with a view of Clear Lake. We sat in the restaurant for quite a while (say 15-20 min.) before the server came for our order. Bar: We ordered Strawberry Margaritas and the server came back to tell us they only had the regular we said that was fine. They came in a low ball glass with the salt and lime on the rim. They were okay…. less than what you would expect from a restaurant specializing in Mexican cuisine. Service: The server had a table of 6, who came in the same time we did. They had their order taken, made and served and were out the door before we had our food served. When the server came for our order he wasn’t friendly at all, didn’t ask if we wanted chips and salsa or another drink or even water. We flagged down the server to inquired about our meal. He told us the cook had 2 take out orders ahead of us but she was working on it as we spoke, this was 20 minutes or more after ordering. We waited for at least another 14-20 minutes for our food. After serving us came back when we were nearly finished to ask if everything was okay. Food: When we initially ordered he asked if we wanted hot or mild, we ordered mild not knowing that would be like a nursing home meal with absolutely no flavor. I ordered a beef burrito with 2 beef taco. It came with the usual rice and beans ( which we good and okay flavor wise) and also a bit of salsa. My food was warm not hot, looked good, beef was a bit greasy but okay for flavor but again, for a restaurant specializing in Mexican Cuisine, could have been better by far. I ordered a side of guacamole which was basically avocado with a bit of tomato in it, no seasoning at all. The salsa was the same a bit of watery tomato with something in it that was green, with no flavor, so watery it didn’t even taste like tomato. Thinking if we would have ordered the hot.. it would would have been hot but bland.. but can’t say for sure. Cook, you need to learn more about seasoning food! Garlic, Cumin, onion powder. cilantro, lime… something, anything. even just salt and pepper! Overall the experience was disappointing and can say we won’t be returning. The server received no tip, the tip I would have given to him would be… BE MORE ATTENTIVE AND ANTICIPATE THE NEEDS OF YOUR CUSTOMERS! Granted he was young and it may have been his parents bar and restaurant and he didn’t want to be there, anyway, that’s the take I got on his attitude. The meal filled the hole in our bellies… but that was about it.

Food was really good. Cook was awesome. Price is low to average. Bartender was awesome. Waiter was slow and HORRIBLE. He was super nice but should probably find another job.

AMAZING, MUST GO!!!! Delicious and amazingly authentic! 2 things struck me, first the delicate character of the corn tortilla enchiladas was fantastic! Often I will avoid corn tortillas because the corn flavor seems to overwhelm the other flavors, not so here…it was beautiful. 2nd, the hot sauce option. I always order mild with hot on the side, because I hate too hot, mouth burning sauce. Their hot sauce was inline any thing I’ve ever tasted….I immediately felt a slight sweat…but no burning taste! It had a great Smokey taste too!!!
Oir server ‘Styler” was great too, attentive, friendly and quick!
PS, the fried ice cream easily serves 2…4 scoops, hot, crispy and under $4.00 ?!?!
So much to love, easiest decision to return!

Food was way overpriced, they up charge way too much for substitutions, and no chips and salsa when you come in. You have to pay 4.50 if you want them. Clearly not an actual mexican restaurant and more of an Americanized resteraunt with a Mexican theme. Also not many options. Food was okay though.

Food was not really Mexican. I could have bought better stuff at the grocery store. Prices were to high. The charge for chips and salsa, who does that. Won’t be going back. So sad because it used to be such a great place to go. Not sure if new owners or what. Suggest they get some originality, spice, and learned what a taquito is.

What? No free chips and salsa? $4.50? For another buck we got the guacamole. Chips were stale. Guac and salsa came in cheap plastic specimen cups. Weakest watered down margaritas ever. They even watered down the summer shandy beer. Food was cheap enough, entirely inoffensive and unmemorable. Ground beef, not shredded, no pork, no fajitas. Almost as good as any other (not really) Mexican restaurant in the middle of white-bread America.
They have a beautiful deck overlooking the lake that you can’t eat on, but other than that ZERO to negative atmosphere. No music playing, just a big, bare, plain room. The entrance and the whole building just radiates “we don’t care-we don’t have to.”
Service was great, the people very friendly, attentive and helpful. But the overall experience was just bland. The nearest Mexican restaurant is 20 miles away, which may explain a lot.
