Little Japan is the only Asian restaurant in the county. I have eaten here a couple of times and the food is okay. In a nutshell; this is a Mexican restaurant that serves Japanese food. Not meant as a racial statement only as a general description.
The food was better this visit. I ordered the lunch hibachi combo of steak and shrimp. The steak was overcooked and what seemed to be a cheaper cut of meat. It was tough and didn’t have much flavor.
I also decided to try the sushi special which was a shrimp tempura roll. I was pleased with the roll but it was drowned in unagi/eel sauce. I do love the sauce but it overpowered the roll.
The service was subpar. The guy that waited on me forgot about me after getting my drink and sushi order. When he remembered me he had to come back and ask what I wanted to drink. My memory is bad so I try not to be too harsh but there was only 2 occupied tables in the restaurant with a total of maybe 6 people. When he couldn’t remember the drink I was certain I wasn’t getting the sushi so I was surprised when he brought it out.
Another issue I had, but didn’t address, is that my bill was $23.?? Totaled on my check. That included tax etc. when I went to pay the guy comes up with a $24.?? total. It was at least a dollar more than the ticket that was brought to my table. I would’ve asked but he was on the phone and not interested in conversing with me. Maybe it’s a charge for using my card? Maybe he’s pocketing an extra dollar or so from the customers?
With that being said, I am a fan of this family of businesses. I am glad that they are providing some change of cuisine to the area. I don’t feel like the owner would condone any issues such as over charging but he is generally at the Mexican restaurant.

Fresh and great. I was very impressed with what I received and at a great price. He had a food truck at the campground I stay at because they were having a chili cook off. I told him I would see him next week.

went in one night with my little nephew and there were curse words playing while we were trying to eat. a few songs back to back had a bunch of curse words, I normally wouldn’t mind but it’s supposed to be a family restaurant so not sure why they would have that music playing. tonight we decided to do take out since we weren’t pleased with the atmosphere last time, got home and my chicken looks like grilled chicken…not how it’s supposed to look for hibachi. very disappointed that we have had issues both times. I think they are just a mess right now with relocating. when we went in to eat we had 4 people ask us how many people were in our party, just need better management. don’t think we will be back.

I do not care who owns, runs, or operates any place I dine at as long as the food is appetizing and service is done with a smile. This place is AMAZING. AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. Every plate I have been served was prepared perfectly. The steak is always juicy and flavorful. The portions amount to button busting twice over. I can get lunch, and have leftovers for dinner and to top ALL OF THIS OFF, the price is just as much as McDonald’s. I no longer go to fastfood in Hodgenville thanks to this establishment. I highly recommend the coconut shrimp for an appetizer, and the salad as the side. Sauces are made in house and the best I’ve ever had! Other reviews making more of a point about “culture” or “music” as appropriation or not family friendly miss the main point of a food establishment. If the hibachi is delicious, the price phenomenal, I’m not gonna make a review just to mention ethnicity. A good hibachi is a good hibachi. As for their music, I quite enjoyed the bootlegged sounding country they use to have playing. It’s unfortunate this town is only expected to appease the religious population, on a one way street of tolerance.

So went in yesterday for my birthday dinner. I ordered the steak and scallops and my date got chicken and shrimp. You get an extremely large amount of rice about half cup of veggies and a few pieces of meat choice. My scallops and veggies where under cooked, waiter was constantly at our table to where we felt rushed, but the yum yum sauce was awesome… All in all it’s ok but pricey for quality of food you get. I should have picked his brother’s place next door and would have had an awesome birthday dinner sorry not sorry that’s my opinion of the place and my experience

Great to have a Japanese option in Lebanon now! Although, I only had one dish. The shrimp fried rice, it was good and quite a decent portion however is missing some key components… Vegetables like shallots not included Didn’t seem to have shrimp paste flavor or the Umami that comes from MSG. Could use a bigger serving of Yum yum sauce to go with the large portion.
Totally make better fried rice at home.
The place itself is clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and kind. Will try more dishes in the future

Starting out we got a seat right away. Waitress came took our drink order and returned promptly with drinks. We ordered dumplings to start and they were great. The Fried Rice was off the hook just add veggies if you like them. My kid got the hibachi noodles combo and loved it! We needed this in Lebanon come out and support!
Edit 1/21/23> went in not realizing it was about to close and they sat us, we ordered , and heard someone say they were closing. So we told them we would take ours Togo and they really didn’t mind us staying. We had to get our kids anyways but it was nice to actually get REAL customer service for once! Thank yall and Livia for your great service!
Consider staying open til 9 on Saturdays.
