I’ve included a side x side photo, the photo on the right is the inspiration photo. I ordered a larger cake based on the decorator’s recommendation and assumed the design would be scaled accordingly. When I picked it up, the decoration didn’t reflect the photo I had provided. There were 3 black fondant balls on each side, it looked unfinished.
I also want to clarify that I didn’t demand anything. The staff member at the counter agreed it didn’t look right and they offered to fix it. When I returned, the updated decorations looked fine, they added gold balls and more icing decorations. I simply asked about adding sprinkles, and the interaction with the owner became unpleasant. And then unfortunately the cake being dry ultimately sealed the experience.
I never asked for a refund and no effort was made to offer a partial refund or another solution. I spent $120 and wanted the cake to meet expectations and the conversation to remain respectful. The owners response to my review helps explain why my experience felt challenging. The lack of responsibility taken and being told my account was untrue is truly disappointing.
I spent $120 on a cake for my husband’s 70th birthday, and it was a disappointment. There was some miscommunication with the cake designer regarding the design photo I provided, which ultimately wasn’t a major issue and was mostly corrected at pickup. What was troubling was being told rudely by the owner at pickup that matching the photo would have cost more — something that should have been clearly communicated upfront by the designer, not after the cake was already made.
More importantly, the cake itself was extremely dry. I picked the cake up on Friday and the party was on Saturday. I followed the storage instructions exactly, yet both cake flavors (half vanilla/chocolate) were so dry that guests did not finish their slices, and some didn’t even want cake after hearing it was dry. Over half the cake went uneaten, such a waste.
Before posting this review, I contacted the bakery directly to try to resolve the issue. The response I received was, “I’m sorry you weren’t happy with your cake.” There was no effort to make it right and more importantly no accountability.
I actively try to support small businesses and rarely leave negative reviews, but based on the owner’s response regarding both the design and the quality of the cake, I felt it was necessary to share this experience. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this bakery.
Came in to ask a few questions , person from the back came up and seemed aggravated we took her from her work . Started asking questions and she’s already filling out a slip.(sales pressure)
Not a big deal. Said the cake will be 70 to 75$ but after we give the deposit turns out its like 96$ (and no we didnt add stuff)
we’ll damn that’s alot but ok maybe it will look great.
We get it and its 5inch× 5inch. For real 100$ . Honestly we felt pressure to buy it and we get it and its tiny tiny. NOT HAPPY. WILL not BE BACK. . Could of got one from servantii for half the price and twice as big.
Im all about small business but overall not happy with customer service, price point, up selling ,a deceiving sales tactics..
Maybe im all wrong but from my experience of buying cakes for my kids the last 10 years this was the worst experience.
