I really enjoyed lunch at this spot. The salsa was unique and the verde was really good. I had a couple of tacos and I most likely would ask for the slaw and sauce on the side next time just for how much they put on it. Cocktail was refreshing and overall good experience

Had a great time here! Had the smoked chicken quesadilla and the strawberry and dragonfruit agua Fresca and it DID NOT disappoint! Had an amazing server (Aspen) who was happy to ensure we enjoyed every aspect of the meal. The booths are a bit uncomfortable because the tables don’t overlap the seats very well, but other than that, this place is a must-try!

The black male waiter with locs is the only reason for the one star. The food is TRASH! SO many authentic Mexican restaurants in Birmingham and these people can’t even have anyone who actually is from that culture in the kitchen. Taco bell is better AND cheaper! We spent $140 for a family of 4 and are actively looking to dispute the charge bc the food was SO bad! We got brisket nachos (with Rodney Scott next door, they are ACTIVELY playing in customers faces with that non seasoned bs), tamales (no flavor), enchiladas (another with no salt not pepper used while cooking), a hamburger (only saving grace. 8/10), and three tacos (2 pork, 1 chicken, NEITHER of which was seasoned), 2 lime aids, a sprite, a water, and 2 Mexican firing squads (the bartender was doing his BIG one! The drinks were AMAZING!!). If you’re looking for AUTHENTIC Mexican food, go ANYWHERE else but here!!!

I’m a first timer to Little Donkey Mexican restaurant and it did not disappoint. 4:45 on Monday. A unique Mexican Restaurant.
They caught me off guard a little when chips and salsa weren’t on my table as I sat down and they didnt have many options for soda. I understand now it’s for a good cause. A few different salsa’s to choose from. I chose the arbol salsa(sweet and spicy). The salsa was not similar to any ive ever had and it is delicious. My 3 tacos came quickly. Although they were kind of small, they were packed with great flavor. El Pastork pork, Gulf Redfish, Smoked Beef Brisket. Each taco had its own unique flavor. Although i haven’t been a fan of Churro’s in the past over never had them come with chocolate so why not give something another shot. Can’t beat a little chocolate to finish off a meal. Churro’s came out smelling and tasting freshly made. The chocolate was warm and delicious. Again, all of it had such unique flavor. All delicious, great atmosphere, and service.

Would recommend to anyone every night of the week. Environment is so nice and the staff are friendly. The food is impeccable, full of incredible flavors. I would recommend getting chips and salsa with a side of queso for an appetizer. The meat is so delicious. I would recommend to locals and those who are visiting!

First off, let me mention the wonderful service provided by Oscar. Not only did he make sure we had everything we needed but his recommendation for the Saturday Special was spot on. Best Mexican fusion I think I’ve ever had!
The food was excellent – hot, fresh and more than satisfying. Plus there was enough to share or have some left over to take home (which I did). I am so glad that we chose Little Donkey for our Saturday lunch and you can rest assured that we’ll be back soon for more excellent cuisine. I highly recommend.

I’d highly recommend Little Donkey in Homewood if you’re looking for a dining experience that feels like home, with a touch of Southern charm. We recently had the pleasure of being served by Claire, who turned an already great meal into a truly memorable experience. Her warm personality and attentive service made us feel like family, and we’ll definitely be back soon.

Our company recently had a private event here and the food and service were amazing. They made everything very easy for our large group. The atmosphere was perfect for our group to be able to talk and catch up with each other since we had not been together in a while. They were accommodating for all of our needs. I am not posting pics due to privacy reasons, but the place is very nicely decorated. I cannot say enough about how fresh the food is. I watched as they made homemade corn and flour tortillas. The pricing was more obviously due to the fact that we paid for a buyout, but it was close to the same or less than other places I contacted. I highly recommend for a private party, or just for lunch or dinner.
