Gave this place a shot after buying cupcakes and was absolutely delighted with the quality and selection of entrees. I ordered the pizza with the works and you can definitely taste the brick oven magic. We had the chance to sit outside in early August and people watch as we enjoyed lunch. I also highly recommend the Mortazza sandwich with a Lil beast lager. Little beast cafe is definitely worth checking out.

We went to artsy beast and stumbled into Bird Song last night. Then we learned about little beast so we came back to round out the tour of great places in Chevy chase. Now I don’t have to drive to Frederick for Detroit pizza. Great find. Wings great too.

This place is worth trying. I loved the appetizers we had, but will admit I wasn’t crazy about the traditional pizza we had.

The Detroit style one was a different story, though. That was very good. The drinks were also creative and fun to browse as well.

Our waiter was incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome. Worth a try.

Little Beast Café & Bistro in Washington, DC delivers a deliciously satisfying lunch experience. My brother enjoyed the Fresh Lemonade, while I enjoyed the Blueberry Hibiscus Lemonade. The Shrimp Salad Roll stood out with its buttery, toasted brioche split top roll generously filled with dressed shrimp salad and garnished with dill, celery leaves, Old Bay, and lemon. It was served with tangy cornichon pickles that added the perfect crunch.

Instead of kettle chips, I opted for the Little Beast Salad—a refreshing mix of spring greens, cucumber, tomato, and red onion tossed in house-made herb vinaigrette.

Whether you’re stopping by for a casual lunch or craving bold, fresh flavors, Little Beast doesn’t disappoint.

Stumbled upon this little bistro after taking a red line shuttle bus following WMATA closures. The bistro was serene and inviting on a cold, winter day in DC. They had a great selection of outdoor, indoor, and heated patio sitting.

The service and atmosphere were par for the course, nothing spectacular. The food, however, far exceeded my expectations.

First & foremost, this bistro’s speciality is pizza — thin coal fired or Detroit-style. My wife is allergic to dairy but was blown away by the coal-fired vegan cheese vegetable pizza, which was decadent and perfectly balanced between the splendid vegan cheese, mushrooms, spinach, olives and house made tomato sauce! Note: they only do not do vegan cheese substitutes for their Detroit-style pizza.

Their Sunday brunch sandwiches — in this case, the McBeasty — were superb, and the Caesar Salad was very fresh and had a unique house made Caesar dressing that tied in everything well!

I can confidently say that this place takes #1 for best vegan cheese pizza.

Pretty good Detroit-style pizza — they clearly did their research and know what they’re doing. The pie is on the smaller side (four pieces), and I don’t think they’re using brick cheese. The crust had a few too many large air bubbles, which threw it off a bit. Instead of just saying “we’re the best,” I’d love to see them share what makes them the best: what cheese they use, how the sauce is made, what kind of flour and yeast go into the dough, and how long it’s allowed to rise. Detroit pizza is more than just how it’s assembled — it’s about how it’s crafted.

That said, I enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and professional, and I liked the laid-back atmosphere. The asparagus appetizer was excellent, the Caesar salad was okay, and the Buffalo wings missed the mark. The wings were a good cut, but they came out way too quickly — just a few minutes after ordering . That makes me wonder when they were actually cooked, since proper frying takes longer.

Bottom line: this is a pizza place, not a wing place. If you stick to the pizza, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I loved this place. A friend introduced it to me and I’m glad I went to try it with him! Ordered the Red Wing Pizza and he ordered the Red Wine Braised Short Rib and both were really delicious. I have zero negative things to say about the food we ordered. Both dishes fully satiated us.

The Red Wing Pizza had a deep dish, thicker crust and a thin layer of sauce and cheese on top, with additional spices. Molto bene!

The Red Wine Braised Short Rib was great, too. My friend thought the meat was too dry for his taste, but I tried it and thought it was great: tender beef without excessive oil. The dish also included a surprisingly great side of brussels sprouts and cornmeal (looks like mashed potatoes in the included picture). Overall, great dish.

The place, when we went, was sparse (a little after dinner rush on a Monday night) and had plenty of small, open tables inside, with more outside. Wait staff was attentive enough, not overly so, but checked in throughout dinner. I also asked about the brussels sprouts and the waiter got to share their thoughts on how it’s cooked and what they liked about it. Nice experience and service, overall.

We found street parking a short block away.

The Short Rib was $25 and the Red Wing Pizza was $20. Priced on the higher end, but worth it, in our opinion! I’d recommend both dishes!

5/5 stars from me.

Ordered out, so I didn’t spend much time inside, but the environment looked very pleasant. Pizza was great, both the Detroit style and the brick oven. Cheesy bread sticks were excellent. Definitely a return destination.

Pizza is best eaten in square slices….

Known for their Detroit Style Pizza that consists of a thick buttery crust that is in the shape of a rectangular. Of all the pizzas I tried, the short rib pizza was my favorite.

If New York style pizza is more your speed, this option is available as well.
