Overall Score: 1.2/10 – A standard Chinese takeout spot with easy online ordering and prompt service, but the low-quality chicken and lack of spice ruined the overall experience.
Atmosphere and Service: 4.2/10 – The restaurant is a typical takeout-only spot with a messy and unpolished appearance. The menu offers a nostalgic Boston-style selection that could appeal to some diners. However, the standout positive was the seamless online ordering process, which included an email receipt, and the food was ready on time.
General Tso’s Chicken: 2.9/10 – A major letdown that ruined the entire experience. The chicken was of poor quality, with a significant amount of hard cartilage making it unpleasant to eat. Despite selecting “medium” spice, the dish lacked any heat or chili peppers, resulting in no spiciness at all. The combination of these issues overshadowed any potential positives and made the dish highly unsatisfactory.

In my 70+ yrs of life, chinese food has always been a favorite ever since I can remember my earliest memories growing up outside of Boston. We had great chinese food everywhere in the city and suburbs. Fast forward and life has brought me to living in a variety of places with horrible chinese food – rural kentucky to high end michelin star chinese – Oslo Norway. Add in a trip to China and I’ve seen a very wide spectrum of Chinese cuisine. So far, Lin’s Garden is the second worst that I have ever experienced. First worst was in Paducah KY. Now Lin’s – hard to believe any chinese food can be called bland but they have managed it. Gen Tso chicken and pork lo mein – terrible. The chicken itself was cooked ok, but the sauce was just weird tasting flat and devoid of the normal Gen Tso spices. The pork lo mein should be called pork fat and noodles – at least half the pork strips were nothing but fat and the remainder were sections of fat with a bit of actual meat attached. Not much in the lo mein besides noodles, and again, flavor was flat/bland. I give them kudos if trying to minimize salt and msg, but there’s more to chinese flavors than salt and msg. Maybe since it was xmas and they really did not want to be there or they have just given up on providing a quality product I do not know and I do not care to return to try again. This area has pitiful choices for decent chinese but a few others we’ve tried have at least been fairly pleasant with generally familiar flavors. It hard to believe they have 4-5 star reviews, I can only guess is thet those customoers never had much exposure to good chinese food. I really hate giving negative reviews based on one visit but I feel an obligation to offset the overly great reviews with my honest appraisal.
Also note this is strictly take-out, no table or dining in. Chair available for waiting. Being xmas, it was busier than expected and our online order was about 10-15 min behind – no biggie, we just didn’t feel like prepping a holiday meal just for the 2 of us since we were leaving for a family visit next day.

Food was terrible, a waste of my $39. Fried chicken wings were hard and flavorless! Never had flavorless chicken wings from a Chinese restaurant. Egg rolls were nasty, looked pink in places inside of it, idk just weird. The crab Rangoon had no crab in it and was just a cream that again was far from tasty. First and last time going

Hands down the best Chinese food in the area. Chicken and broccoli taste fantastic and the sweet and sour chicken was great too so soft and tasty. The owners are super nice and friendly. I highly recommend them.

So far this is the best Chinese food we’ve found in the area. If you want fortune cookies, make sure to ask for them!
Wonderful family owned and run take out business.

Actively eating and let me tell u. DISGUSTING. We are so upset. Spent 42.16$ and almost everything is inedible. From burnt chicken to fish tasting broccoli and spring rolls. The orange beef was soggy. Sweet & sour pork burnt also. They were not busy either. Because of the Covid 19 they have a sign on the door saying you have to call and order so we did , they took payment over the phone and brought order out. We got home to the worst chinese weve ever eaten. I will attempt to post pictures with this review.

By far the best takeout place in Wake Forest! We moved here last year and tried around. Guess we saved the best for last. Food is delicious, portions are massive but the best part is going to get the food and being greeted by their super sweet polite kids. Love that its a family business but the food is also on point. My new go to takeout place!

Food seemed quite plain. Orange chicken had 2 pieces of broccoli, otherwise just sauce & chicken. Asked for spring rolls, they tasted just like egg rolls. Quick, clean, good service.

Food was very bland.
Orange chicken and sesame chicken are almost exactly the same. Chicken fried rice tasted like nothing.
