Stopped by here during a road trip and was so pleasantly surprised. I only paid around 10 bucks for a double hamburger and genuinely had to stop myself from going in and getting another one. The beef tasted fresh and the lettuce and tomato tasted the same. Service was fast and friendly. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick bite.

Local to go place with your typical fare such as burgers, beefs, subs etc. I had a turkey sub which was decent and my friend has an Italian. The staff was friendly and accommodating with special requests. If you’re in a hurry, this is a great spot.

Ive never had my sandwich so loaded with oil. So much oil that it soaked through both wrappers and onto our table. Couldnt finish the sandwich because of it.

Excellent customer service. Food portions were great. Nice local sandwich shop. Good change of pace. Drive up window made it even easier for those of us with kiddos. Food was hot, fresh, and ready fast!

We started going to Lincoln Carryouts during the late 1960s on 4th and Fillmore in Gary, IN. We enjoyed their wide variety of sandwiches and their value throughout the decades. We missed them when they closed their location on Broadway years ago. Now, I just found out their two locations in Crown Point and Hobart. Their food has never disappointed me. I have always received friendly service. I am a life long customer.

Date of Visit: May 12 — Yes, dear reader, the date matters. In the age of time-stamped mirages and long-expired enthusiasm, I prefer my reviews as fresh as the food should be.
Upon stepping into Lincoln Carryout, I was greeted by a pleasantly tidy environment and staff that, while not bursting with charisma, managed a courteous nod or two. The menu sprawled generously across genres—offering a hopeful glimmer that perhaps, just perhaps, there was something special to discover.
The Order: Chicken tenders with fries, and a roast beef sandwich.
Let us begin with the chicken tenders—three petite, uninspired morsels that bore a striking resemblance to the freezer-section relics labeled “Dino Nuggets” from your local Jewel. The texture, while mildly crisp, lacked any memorable crunch or seasoning. These were not the golden, soul-hugging tenders one dreams of in times of culinary need. They were, in every sense, forgettable.
Now, onto the roast beef sandwich—a masterclass in mediocrity. Two slices of bread, meekly toasted, cradled a sparse and lifeless assembly: a whisper of lettuce, onion strands that could barely stage a protest, two reluctant slices of tomato, and roast beef so thin and sparse it felt more like a rumor than a main ingredient. The dish bore little resemblance to the robust, overflowing photos that lured me in. At $8, one expects at least a bit of heft or flavor. This was neither indulgent nor satisfying—it was, if I may be blunt, the kind of sandwich I might cobble together in a rush at home and instantly regret.
The Verdict:
A resounding 2.5 stars. Not because it was awful—heavens, I’ve seen worse—but because it was so painfully average. The flavors were flat, the portions underwhelming, and the price unjustified. Clean digs and mildly friendly staff can only take you so far when the food feels like an afterthought.
If your palate seeks delight and your wallet demands value, I advise you to journey elsewhere. Lincoln Carryout is, alas, not the destination you’re hoping for.
Bon appétit—elsewhere.

My favorite spot for a sandwich in the area! I usually get the corned beef, but everything I have ever had is amazing. The girl who is always working the counter is always really helpful and friendly, and the food is always amazing. Love this place!

I love Lincoln‘s, but I will go to the one in Hobart instead. Here they are very inconsistent. They don’t give you enough meat on the hot club, they really need to change up the lettuce because this iceberg lettuce sometimes is brown and the sandwich is overloaded with it. At Hobart, they don’t charge you for replacing extra bacon if you don’t want the roast beef but over here, 1 minute they don’t charge you and then the next minute depending on who’s back there they do charge you and that’s not how that’s supposed to go. If you’re a company under the same umbrella, then the prices, principles should be the same across the board. The fries and the onion rings are inconsistently cooked over here as well. A couple times the fries have been slightly undercooked with that potato starch type of taste and you don’t notice it until you get home, and for me that’s in Chicago, so definitely couldn’t drive back to address the issue. Until these issues are resolved, I’ll continue to go to the Hobart location
