I’m from Toronto and visited this restaurant for the first time — and I’m so glad I did! The food tastes like it was cooked by mom — full of love, flavor, and comfort. The owner is such a kind and helpful person , and the customer service is top-notch .
We’ll be coming back to this place every single time we’re in town ✨
Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
While the food was excellent, there were a few aspects that could be improved. The portions were quite small, especially considering that the chips and salsa are purchased separately. It would be more appropriate for the restaurant to provide a more generous serving of salsa, given that it is an accompaniment to the chips.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was satisfactory, although I personally found the loud Christian music playing on the television to be somewhat disruptive. It is important to remember that not everyone shares the same religious beliefs, and it may be more considerate to provide a more neutral environment for all customers.
Overall, the food at this restaurant is highly recommended, but there is room for improvement in terms of portion sizes and the choice of background music.
(Dec 2022) Loved it here! 4 options for tacos, we tried al pastor, cochinita pibil and carne asada (they also have tripe). Really enjoyed all the tacos and would get them again but the cochinita was my favorite, great flavor and juicy, tender meat. Also got an order of the picaditas (5 for $15), each came with a different topping, the rojo salsa was the favorite followed by the mole sauce and cochinita, then the black been/queso and then the verde salsa. But you can’t order just one picadita, you can only get the variety platter but I enjoyed the different flavors. I very much enjoy ordering picaditas on the beach in Mexico topped with black beans and queso, it’s my favorite snack and you can get like 3 or 4 of them for like 30 pesos (aka $1.50), but for not being in Mexico, I enjoyed the ones here.
Was able to easily get a space out front on a Sunday, but backing up can be tricky cause it’s a semi busy street. There’s a few booths where you can order to eat there or you can get take out, I saw some of both. They’ve got sodas and water available but no Agua frescas.
It’s a small establishment, but the service is good and the food even better
I had never had “refried” black beans before and I swear they were amazing
All the food we had was fantastic and drinking it down with some Mexican Coke was the cherry on top
Parking can be a little iffy, but manageable.
Will definitely be back
