I’m fortunate to live in Ennis and have this excellent sandwich shop just a few minutes away. It’s been 13 months since I set out to try every sandwich on the current menu, and after trying 36 different sandwiches I can confidently say Limerick’s knows how to make an excellent sandwich.
Some sandwiches became clear favorites, while others weren’t quite to my taste—but the variety, quality of ingredients, creativity of the combinations, and most importantly the staff, keep me coming back.
My personal favorites:
The Habana is my number one. It’s just flat-out delicious and hits every note perfectly.
The Hollingshaye is my second favorite, and it leaves me wanting another bite every time.
Payne’s Pork, a newer addition, quickly became my clear third favorite. The spicy jalapeño coleslaw adds a special kick that really makes it stand out.
Other sandwiches that really impressed me and that I will happily order again include:
The Tyrant, Harley’s Turkey, Beef Bacon Cheddar, The Dirty Dozen, Patty Melt, Turkey Ciabatta, Italian Sub, Ferdie, The Godfather, Rich & Rich, The Porky, Stoney, and The Cosmo. These were all packed with flavor and felt like what this shop does best.
For anyone looking for a lighter option, I also want to highlight their veggie sandwiches—and yes, I tried all of those too. I especially recommend the Dlabaj.
Final Thoughts
After working through the current menu, my biggest takeaway is the consistency and creativity. The shop clearly puts effort into quality ingredients and unique combinations. While not every sandwich was my personal favorite, I ate every single one and tried to give each a fair shot.
Bottom line: I highly recommend if you’re in the Ennis area to stop by and have lunch. You can try one or all, there’s truly something here for everyone

I have eaten at Limericks two days in a row now. Not sure what took me so long to try this place, but wow! First day I had the Patty Melt meatloaf sandwich, it was amazing. Second day I had the “Hollingshayes” and it was fantastic. The food is fresh, made with real meat. Service was fine, you can expect to spend $10-$15 give or take for a sandwich and chips. Well worth it in my opinion, I will eat here at least once a week from this point forward!

Tried them out for the first time today. I got the Tyrant and my wife had Harley’s turkey sandwich. Huge portions, freshly made, flavorful, and an excellent value! We’ll definitely be back!

What a great experience! The shop is located in the downtown area. Looks historic for sure. The sandwich I got was so good. It was called the Ferdie. It had pot roast and cajun candied ham with all kinds of other stuff. Lots of flavors that blended well. I also tried one of their home made peanut butter cookies and it was amazing as well. The stuff was friendly and the service was fast. I will be eating here again.

The staff make you feel like family (the good kind). The sandwiches are fresh and made to order. The restaurant is sparkling clean. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! You can also get a salad from any sandwich. My absolute go-to is the Diane’s Club sandwich and then I have the sandwich made into a salad on those days I want something lighter. The portion sizes are incredibly! This is a MUST eat place! No one goes away hungry!

I highly recommend the gouda sandwich and my husband loved the Italian. The roast beef on the gouda was so tender and full of flavor. It has to be the best sandwich I have ever had. Really enjoyed. It was $41 for two sandwiches, a kids meal and a side of potato salad.

Yummy!!! We have been to Weinbergers and this place is without a doubt as Amazing!! Oh my was my sandwich gone in seconds We ordered the red beans and rice, the medianoche, and cheese steak. We would definitely come again if we are back this way! Highly recommend you have to come here!! I especially love how this shop is in a little vintage town you can stroll around.
