Lily’s sandwiches are so yummy! Prices are reasonable, and there are daily specials.
“Atmosphere” is not important — it’s a sandwich shop. But it is clean and tidy.
Lily herself works there and always has a smile and a friendly word.
Definitely a good choice for a light, inexpensive meal.

The steak sub is absolutely amazing. One of the best subs I have ever had.
On a subsequent visit I also had the spaghetti which was was good and another subsequent visit I had the lasagna also very good.
Trying to find a good place to eat around Kinston can be challenging to say the least.
Lily’s however is probably the best place. We’ve had any decent food from restaurants.

I had a very upsetting experience at Lily’s. My autistic son was with me, and like many children on the spectrum, he stims by making sounds, flapping his hands, and walking in circles. He wasn’t bothering anyone, and some of the other customers were actually smiling and enjoying him.
However, the woman who first approached us was extremely unaccepting. When she saw him in my arms, she immediately told him to “be quiet” and to stop stimming. Later, while I was talking to two ladies who were being kind and supportive, she interrupted again, telling me to make him stop moving his hands and circling because it was “disruptive” to their conversation.
I calmly explained that stimming is a part of autism and something I cannot and should not stop. Despite this, she told me I needed to “get him and get out” because he was too disruptive. I had to repeat myself again that this is part of who he is, and if he wasn’t bothering them, why was she so concerned?
This experience was not only hurtful but discriminatory. My child deserves the same right to exist in public spaces as anyone else. We will not be returning, and I truly hope Lily’s addresses this kind of behavior so no other family has to go through what we did.

This was my first time visiting this place and I truly enjoyed the service and the food! I ordered the steak wrap, and it was delicious. Next time I’m in Kinston I will stop there again. Lily’s Pizza and Subs atmosphere is very welcoming.

We ordered a one topping pizza, pepperoni pizza. It was a good price, and it came out hot and ready. The store was clean. The only issue we had was with the lady up front. I got the pizza and my friend decided she wanted ranch so after I got the pizza she asked for ranch, and the lady said very loudly they could have asked me while I gave them the pizza. I said mam she didn’t decide until after we got the pizza. The lady rolled her eyes . The nice Asian lady was very caring and listened to our complaint. While in the establishment I witnessed her being rude to another couple. Other than the one lady this establishment was not that bad. I would go back for the food but not the customer service.

DON’T EAT HERE! They done burnt my Mama’s sausage sub as of 7/31/21 and gave her a small instead of a large. The lady answered the call in order with an attitude. Also when called about the burnt sub, they just kept letting the phone ring and they eventually picked up, but just to put me on hold. I heard some background chatter and they were not taking orders. I see why people come in there and start cussing as I have seen a few times. They are playing around with people, time and they money. Four subs and fries came up to $43.00 and something. If some of the “employees” don’t want to work, quit. Like many of Kinston workers, these sub standard employees take it out on the customer. Some of them have no professionalism, home training decorum or COMMON SENSE to be working in a restaurant. Ms. Cathy, stop hiring just anybody off the streets! It is hurting your business no matter much your raising the prices. Ask your family to come back. The food and service was better. The atmosphere was better. An health inspector ought to come and inspect the place. But no worries, whoever was on that phone and call themselves putting people on hold and not getting up with anyone, will reap something much more greater than the hard time they tried to put us through

My “large” hamburger sub was around $10 something ($12 by the time it’s posted to my account) but when I open my sub, there was hardly no meat up there. A relative of mines told me that previous week, that there was hardly no meat on hers but I saw for myself when I got a sub. Why Ms.Cathy why??? The large sub looks like a small one and it seems like each year the price gets higher. I understand that it’s business, but I can at least have some meat up there. If I am paying the high price, I want my sub to be full and balanced. Good place but please don’t budget cut on too much stuff. The lays chips was replaced with toms chips, the steak dip used to sweet but now it’s a bit saltier due to budgeting. Nothing wrong with cutting back on cost but again don’t cut back on everything including the meat
Update: 10/1/20 went back to see if there were any changes. My fries wasn’t cooked and the bread of my sub was burnt at the ends. Not sure why they over toast it and still wrapped it up to serve that someone, but the food quality has went down long time ago. They don’t answer that phone too nicely anymore either. The extra sauce I requested hardly had nothing in it and it mostly taste like vinegar. They need better help in that kitchen because they ain’t fixing those subs right and doesn’t look like they want to. The food and service is not what it use it to be there. Those women who are currently in there don’t know how to cook & make people uncomfortable going in there by always staring too hard like they have a problem especially if you look good The energy and vibe is all off. Be prayed up when you go into these places. This not the same fun lilys like it use to be.

This is the second time my family has been here and had to wait an extremely long time to get food. The first time it was over 2 hours (they had given the order to someone else) and this time was an hour. While waiting for the food we noticed they place to go orders in front of dine in orders. This is not the place to dine in during your lunch hour. May be ok if you call order in.
The table was sticky and we didn’t even get our drinks while we waiting for our food.
We didn’t receive chips with our subs we had to ask for them.
While waiting we observed other customers have issues with their orders.
I ordered the pizza sub and it was delicious and a cheese pizza. The cheese pizza had bit of a spicy side to it. I wouldn’t say it is kid friendly.
It just seemed like the employees didn’t want to work and we’re all over the place.
