We ordered the pot stickers, roast duck, Mongolian beef, and honey walnut shrimp. We will 100% return!!
The dumplings were bigger than most places and stuffed with heaping amounts of the stuffing. They were juicy, filling, and fried to perfection.
OMG the roast duck was a 11/10!! Will probably end up ordering this every time we return to Petaluma, which we do frequently. SO flavorful, fatty, and the steamed bao balances the flavors and textures perfectly. If you like duck, this dish is a must!
The Mongolian beef was equally delicious, just a bit too many onions for my boyfriend’s preference, but we both loved it! Would also recommend this dish with steamed rice.
The honey walnut shrimp is a classic favorite of ours. I’d give this dish a 7.5/10. The flavors were there, but it wasn’t as crispy as I’ve had at other restaurants, and I would pass on the maraschino cherry garnish. Still delicious though and I would give this dish another try.
Overall, I highly recommend this spot, and will be returning the next time we visit Petaluma!
Pictured is the Basil Chicken and Pineapple chicken. Super yummy
Delicious food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere — this place has it all. The Mongolian Beef was packed with flavor, and every bite felt fresh and perfectly cooked. Staff were attentive without hovering, and the whole experience left me excited to come back. Highly recommend!
For starters, we ordered the Crispy Spring Rolls, which are shown in the first photo. They came out hot and crisp, served with sweet and spicy sauces on the side. The rolls were light and not greasy, which is sometimes an issue at other places. Along with the appetizer, they brought out a pot of hot tea, which was actually very good—a nice touch that added to the experience.
For mains, we had the BBQ Pork Chow Mein, Mongolian Beef, and General’s Chicken, as you can see in the second photo. The portions were generous, and each dish was fresh and well-prepared. What stood out was that nothing was drowned in sauce—each dish had its own distinct flavor and you could actually taste the ingredients. The General’s Chicken had a good balance of sweet and savory, and the BBQ Pork Chow Mein came with plenty of tender pork and fresh noodles. The Mongolian Beef was loaded with vegetables and had a bit of a kick, but not overpowering.
Service was quick and our orders came out in good time. The dining area was clean, and everything seemed to be well-organized. There weren’t really any downsides on this visit—everything went smoothly. Lily Kai has been a local staple in Petaluma for years, and based on this experience, it’s easy to see why people keep coming back.
If you’re looking for solid Chinese food in the Petaluma area, this is a reliable choice with fresh ingredients, good service, and a relaxed atmosphere.
Will definitely come back next time I’m in the area.
This place is a must try!!
