Special shout out to T.J. who was super attentive and welcoming. He made really good recommendations and brought food out quickly.
Gotta take a moment for the Ube cheesecake, Creme Brûlée, and Lilikoi cheesecake which I thoroughly enjoyed in that order. My hubby who considers himself a cheesecake connoisseur raved about the Ube. It was perfectly balanced and smooth. He isn’t necessarily a fan of crème brûlée but said this was the best he’s ever had.
After spending the day being aggressively pursued by rain clouds up and down the coast of Kauai, we waved the white flag and called for a late dinner close to the condo. Enter Lilikoi Bar & Grill, a place brave enough to host one committed meat eater and three dedicated vegetarians at the same table. A bold move. A successful one.
The open-air dining room was breezy, relaxed, and exactly what you want after a day of damp flip-flops and soggy plans. The restaurant manager, who appeared to be heroically covering for a server who called off, was an absolute delight. Friendly, welcoming, and clearly unshaken by the chaos of real life, he kicked things off with a Mai Tai and a guava margarita. The Mai Tai deserves its own paragraph, maybe its own postcard home. Easily one of the best I’ve had, and I’ve done the research.
This being my first non-Chinese or Thai meal on Kauai, I went full island classic with the Loco Moco. I’ve had a few over the years, but this one stood out as especially satisfying. Comfort food with purpose. Fork-heavy, nap-adjacent, and exactly what I needed.
The vegetarians were equally impressed. One went for the nachos, which arrived generous, glorious, and gone far too quickly. Another chose the tropical Waldorf salad and declared it “yummy,” which is high praise in vegetarian terms. The youngest veggie opted for the house-made veggie burger and announced that it exceeded expectations, which I believe is the culinary equivalent of a standing ovation.
So if you find yourself near Kalapakī Beach, rain-weary, hungry, and traveling with a mixed-diet entourage, give Lilikoi Bar & Grill a try. It won’t disappoint, and you might even forget the rain was chasing you all day.
You can tell he genuinely cares about the guests and not just doing his job. He definitely made our meal better.
Don’t sleep on this lovely place with pastries, desserts, great food, service and more!
Our grandson had a local burger special (pictured). Waitress was friendly and attentive. Would definitely return.
Plenty of free parking, which is always a plus. The staff was very nice as well. I left my ear piece in the booth, I called and they held it for me until I came back.
