Loved this place. As a New Englander, I’m always going into a fish and chip place with a healthy dose of skepticism, but this place was excellent. They’re immediately welcoming when you walk in and are clearly enthusiastic about you enjoying yourself the entire time you’re there. Food is really good. I was honestly struck by how good even the greens & herbs salad was. While the fish and chips is the star of the show, they’ve put a lot of thought into making this spot more than just a fish and chips joint. Everything was delicious. And I was super happy they had a mushroom sandwich for my vegetarian husband as we often have to skip seafood spots because I’ll feel bad if he just sits there and watches me eat (he is always happy to do this). Anyway, big props to this team for making a restaurant about fish and chips more than that.
Ps def go for the happy hour. Good $1 oysters are a rare commodity these days. The mignonette was great.
Pps my only advice for the establishment would be to kick it up a notch flavor wise with the crab dip!

We love lil chippy! One of our favorite spots in Maine. These photos are from a handful of our visits over the last year. Lil chippy is always our go to! We greatly appreciate their happy hour. Their oysters are always fresh and we love that they frequently have Mere Point. The food is consistent and delicious. Their salt and vinegar powdered fries amazing. We don’t have a single negative thing to say! Always a good vibe in there.

First time having fish and chips so I have nothing to compare this place to. With that said, the fish was just perfection. So crunchy and fresh. We tried the fish and chips, fish sandwich, and the crudo. All exceeded my expectations and would 10/10 recommend everyone to try it. I dreamt about the food for days after having it! Seriously can’t wait to return

This place! This place is a gem and then some. Amazing oysters, perfect flavor, texture and size for an awesome oyster. The eye dropper delivery system for the sauces was a neat method to get exact amounts. The lil chippy was very tasty, not too salty nor too much oil from frying. The carrot appetizer has mega flavor with the pea puree and feta and was quite refreshing. The crab buddy is rich beyond belief and I was very glad to just have split it versus trying to scarf that richness all by my lonesome. And when the kitchen made a slight mistake because they were busy and we spent too long enjoying our oysters they more than made up for it by offering the best dessert… Key lime pie that was so light and delicate that it made the best ending to an amazing afternoon meal. Cant say enough good about this spot! Would spend hours enjoying oysters, and a really clean lager that compliments the seafood quite well.

Absolutely delicious with friendly staff. One of our buddies (sandwiches) was delayed, and the staff apologized profusely and the kitchen gave us a free key lime pie slice. It was divine. The dining room is very small, but worth it to wait for a table. I highly recommend visiting if you are ever in the Portland area.

Fabulous fish and chips (with malt vinegar if you want..) and from looking around everything else was superb too. Great drink selection as well. Friendly and fast service. Highly recommended! My photo of the fish and chips doesn’t do it justice but we’d already eaten most of it by the time we remembered to photograph it!

My boyfriend and I stopped by for a quick bite during happy hour. We ordered the hot fish, oysters, chips, and a fish buddy. It was divine. The oysters tasted like they were caught an hour ago (so fresh). The chips were perfectly fried and salted. Easily the best battered fish I’ve ever had in my life. If you’re in Portland and a lover of seafood, this place is definitely worth a visit!
