I reside in Spanish Springs and am a caregiver of my beautiful 88 year old Italian mother who is also my very best friend. Mom suffered a stroke and heart attack at the beginning of October. It was the worst day of my life everything in my life seemed to changed. The prayers of many and the great care at the UF Spanish Plaines Rehabilitation Hospital (right at The Villages Community Hospital in Spanish Springs) delivered my beautiful mom to a miraculous recovery that now continues at home where I’m blessed to be her caregiver 24/7.
We had frequently eaten out before this life changing event and often enjoyed dinners at many local eateries including Lighthouse Point Bar and Grille.
There are few people left in Moms family, however our cousin from St. Augustine drove down to our home for Thanksgiving and to help bring me a little respite as the past months have been difficult and with many changes.
She asked where Mom enjoyed lobster and Mom communicated, albeit with great difficulty due to aphasia from the stroke, “Lighthouse!” I confirmed that with Mom and then proceeded to the website to review menu and confirm that Friday was the Lobster Feast with the $29.99 Lobster. I proceeded to call the restaurant and to confirm with a helpful new employee and then proceeded with reservations.
We arrived and after a few minutes of confusion, with the new hostess trying to make a reservation, another hostess noticed we already had a reservation for our small party of 3. We were seated promptly and sat inside and with Lovely view of the water and then sunset. Drink requests taken and when things went downhill from there. The waiter was very energetic with a happy and nervous energy. We were looking over the menu although Mom and I have already been delighted with the lobster special and our cousin loves lobster more than anyone I know- so we asked about the lobster and price. The gentleman waiter advised $49.99 and we mentioned we were there for the the Friday lobster special that I had previously confirmed online under the “Specials” pull down menu for the restaurant online and with my earlier phone call. To keep it simple we often hit restaurants on their specialty nights and Friday nights are usually really busy at this lovely restaurant. Mom and I, along with the regular group we dine with from St Timothy’s, regularly meet for the lobster special at the lighthouse point bar and grille at Lake Sumter Landing
The waiter advised the lobster is always based on the market and the weather has turned colder and the price of lobster has gone up for them. We were all shocked about the difference in the price for the new special of $49.99! What is the REGULAR price is the Special lobster fest price is $49.99. Generally in a restaurant the price of such a greatly recognized local dining deal would likely have the regular price a bit higher as to attract at the $50 price.
The big problem was when my cousin asked to please speak to the manager. She quickly came to the table and was anything like any manager of any of the restaurants here in The Villages. Her name is Crystal if I’m remembering correctly. She has the long sleeves pulled up exposing large tattoos. We pulled up the restaurant website online where it showed $29.99 and she advised that was a different restaurant. She was abrupt and not in any human was compassionate. So we asked for more time and then cousin checked actual restaurant and we are correct and I confirmed this of my own cell phone. However, minutes later I recycled the page on Google Chrome and it then showed $49.99.
The manager should have offered this meal for the price we’ve always paid and since we were utilizing the restaurant website and the reservations call.
My 88 year old mom who is always so positive was deeply stressed but couldn’t express it with words because of the stroke. Y’all, we live in The Villages and need management who serve the establishment better.

Beautiful setting on the lake at Lighthouse Point. Loved sitting outside and watching the ducks and birds go by. Great food, just right portion and a nice glass of wine. The beautiful sunset was very enjoyable to watch as the evening came to a close.

We went with no reservation during peak dinner time. A long wait was expected! The staff was super accommodating, even with so many people crowded in the waiting area. It was cold out, so everyone was waiting inside. Once we got a table everything was perfect. The atmosphere was very comfortable, and the service was flawless! I had the fish tacos, and they were so good!

I went to this place to watch Sunday football because it’s known to be where they show the Patriots and play the sound over the loudspeaker. And that indeed they do but you better have a reserved seat. I was lucky enough to find a space at the bar to have a drink and a “meal” for the first half. The place was busy but the service was keeping up, and the kitchen and service team seemed very well coordinated. I’ve been here twice and have been disappointed with the food twice. I’ve ordered the lobster cakes for $18. I should have taken a picture because it was hysterical. I laughed when it was served along with the people sitting next to me at the bar. They were literally the size of quarters and they were only two. There was lots of flavor but no observable Lobster meat in either of them. There was some kind of sweet thai sauce which should never go with a lobster cake. Either serve it with a cocktail sauce or tartar or lemon wedge on the side. I’m from Maine and I had high expectations for that tasty treat. Bottom line is they are very busy as people flock there for Seafood as it seems to be the only restaurant in The Villages dedicated to it. My prior Vision was fried shrimps and they were equivalent to what I could get at any of the local restaurants and country clubs at a lower cost.

This is a place to go for everything you’re looking for. The drink I had, a mermaid mojo was delicious. It is a bit pricey..I think that would be the only drawback, but it’s not everyday you get to sit by a lake where there’s gators! Well, maybe in Florida…We just loved it

First, our server Amber, was outstanding. She stayed on top of everything. We started with some clam chowder as an appetizer and it was excellent. Our entrees were grilled salmon, baked haddock, and a fried shrimp platter. My uncle and wife loved their salmon and fried shrimp meals. My baked haddock was good but a little overcooked. Between the service, the atmosphere, and the views, it was a great experience that I highly recommend.

We’ve owned in The Villages for 15 years and never made it to the Lighthouse Point Bar & Grille to eat until recently. Always thought it too crowded and heard mixed reviews about the food. The Shrimp Abyss – recommended by our awesome server, Kala – was delicious as were the mussels and both were a good value. The wait was brief and enjoyable with drinks outside on the deck and our table on the water was the perfect panacea for our guests visiting from the frigid north. Outstanding service, great ambiance, food came out in a timely manner. Restaurant dining at Sumter Landing at its finest. Thank you!

We stopped for a girls lunch while visiting my family. Had about a 15 minute wait which really wasn’t that bad. It sits right on the water which is absolutely beautiful. The establishment was clean. Our server was very attentive and personable. We had an issue with our fish tacos and she immediately rectified the situation. The fresh muscles were fresh and tasted amazing. The Oyster Rockefeller was good but they weren’t shucked great so pieces of the shell had to be taken out of your mouth when chewing. I had the beets and mozzarella dish. The beets could have been fresher. The fish tacos were really good.

We were in town for a wedding and wanted a nice meal with a “view” on our last night. This place is on a lake which was pretty, especially sitting on the water on the patio. Was told wait would be 15 minutes but that turned into 35. Service was meh. Food was pretty bad. Just so disappointing, especially for over $100 spent for 2. You’d expect seafood to be better in Florida, even central Florida, but just left us disappointed. Sides and app were also pretty sad. The seasonal veggie was zucchini. Zucchini is in season in the summer! If you are willing to pay inflated prices for sub par food with some good views, this is your place. Otherwise, I’m sure you can find something better.
