This seems like a cool place, but we didn’t end up staying to super find out. It was a sunny day and we were looking for the perfect deck overlooking the water. Des Moines’s has a lot of spots in lighthouse lounge would’ve been one of them but the patio is very small and it was already overtaken by group of eight people that seem to all know each other. It seems like you can hang on the actual lighthouse itself but the patio is at the parking lot level down below and I’m not sure that there’s access on the very fun landmark that is the Lighthouse lounge.

Great little hide away bar off beer row in downtown Des Moines, nice little beer garden rated in top ten of best in Des Moines !!!!! food & drinks depend on cook & bartender but usually on the better end !! Bands & DJ or Karaoke have been known to happen on weekends. can be fun ???

Met a buddy here on a Friday afternoon because it’s equidistant from our houses. First, the bartender, Angie, was amazing. She had a large and raucous group of locals completely under control. She was extremely efficient, fun, positive, and had a confident management of her bar. We initially felt like we were interlopers in a locals spot where everyone knows everyone, but all of the locals and regulars made us feel welcome. Don’t be intimidated by this dive bar, it’s a great spot!
