I really had high hopes for this place. We walked in and thought it was pretty cool. I love old school vibes. My wife commented how the dust had probably been there for 50 years. I said, that means the food is good, because no one cares about the dust. Well, I was wrong. The calamari was probably the best thing we got, but it was a bit salty. I got the open steak sandwich and was really disappointed. It came out and looked like steamed meat. I lifted a piece and took a bite, and it was completely flavorless, and unevenly cooked with raw pieces mixed in. They were nice enough to credit me for it, but I barely took a small nibble. The soup it came with was nothing special. My wife got a BBQ bacon burger. Also nothing special and the BBQ sauce completely dominated. We also got a plain pizza which honestly I was surprised was not great either. Dave portnoy gave it an 8.1, shockingly because he doesn’t like flop. Mine was floppy and the cheese was super oily which means low quality cheese. Sorry guys.

Wow! Talk about exceptional customer service and making new comers feel like a part of the family dynamic they have in this establishment! Kevin is phenomenal and super attentive! Always making sure both staff and guests are all doing well and taken care of! Something a lot of restaurants are missing. Genuine care for the public! Me and my girlfriend had a very long day and so, a night at this restaurant was the perfect way to end our day and we do not regret it! Maggie, the bartender, was amazing!!!! Drinks came out to perfection! She was super busy, but she made sure everything came out on time! Her professionalism and efficiency was by far the best experience we have had! I highly recommend Lido’s for a casual nice night out that serves both amazing food and beverages, accompanied by a phenomenal, family, and welcoming atmosphere!

It’s hard to believe it’s been at least 50 years that I’ve been eating this wonderful pizza and other items on the menu. This particular visit the pizza was positively the best ever. How do they do it?

Voted the best old school restaurant in NJ the last 5 years by NJ.com. It’s like stepping back to the 50s. Really unique restaurant that even has a jukebox. The music is fitting and all circa 1950s.
We had a late lunch. My eggplant parmigiana was delicious as was the thin crust pizza.
Street parking can be a little difficult and you may have to walk a block or two.
Great service and reasonable prices.

Nice old fashioned restaurant with tasty thin crust pizzas and cold draft beer. Pizza, mozzarella sticks, and garlic bread were very good, though the mushroom topping was flavorless and tasted like they came out of a can. Will skip mushroom next time I go.

Open Sliced Steak Sandwich
Thin Crust Pizza
Chicken Parmesan
Located on the intersection of Main Street and Temple Avenue is a locally owned bar and restaurant.
I decided to explore three of the most popular items on the menu in particular the open steak sandwich and the bar pie.
Open Sliced Steak Sandwich:
The thinly sliced, tender meat was cooked medium rare and topped with melted butter.
Hidden beneath all this meat is soft, doughy bread.
It also came with a side of vegetables.
I can easily see why this plate is a winner.
Thin Crust Pizza:
Dave Portnoy previously visited this location. While he rated the bar pie in the 8 range, I would have scored it a point or so higher.
Each slice has a perfect ratio of sauce and cheese. The thin crust gives the pie a perfect crunchy texture.
Chicken Parmesan:
Although it’s not inscribed on the menu, this entrée is still a hit among most of the customers.
Unlike the two previous entrees, this parm was not acknowledged on the front of the menu. However, it is still a hit among the customers.
The two cutlets were served over spaghetti. The edges of each cutlet were crispy and the mozzarella cheese has a perfect, golden char.
It was a flawless plate that I cleared down to the last bite.
Aside being impressed by the nostalgic atmosphere with a full size bar, a few vintage decorations caught my eye including the pay phone, animal crackers lamp, and the juke box where you can pick and play classic tunes.
It was perfect dining experience and I see why the three items I explored are highly popular.

My boyfriend and I went for dinner here on a Saturday evening. This was our first time at the restaurant. The pizza was absolutely amazing. Dave Portnoy voted 8.1. In our opinion it is a 9.1. The sauce/cheese ratio is perfect. What is the best is how thin this pie is. The photos show how thin it is. Our server Joanne was so sweet and very accommodating. We had a very nice dining experience! The only thing I would suggest to management is to use fresh sliced mushrooms and not canned mushrooms. It is a whole different thing! The canned ones have a different texture (slimy & rubbery) Fresh is best especially with your name attached. We will definitely be back!!
Edit August 2025: Came back for my boyfriend’s birthday and Joanne was our server again. Great service! (Still no fresh mushrooms lol)

A group of friends and I visited on a packed Friday evening, and as always, the food and service were outstanding. Our waitress was attentive, checking in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed.
We started with the Buffalo Chicken and Meatlover pies – both were fantastic and highly recommended! Their thin-crust pizza truly lives up to its 8.1 Barstool rating.
Next came the soups, and the French Onion was incredible – enough said. For my entrée, I had the Chicken Parm with vodka sauce over spaghetti. The sauce was perfectly cooked, the pasta was al dente, and the chicken was breaded to perfection.
If you’re in the Hackensack area, Lido is a must-visit!

Great to go back in time at Lido’s. Pizza is excellent thin crust and sauce is very good. American style overcooked pasta if you are looking for the classic spaghetti and meatballs.

Was extremely disappointed on Wednesday night with our order. We have eaten in this restaurant dozens of times and never had a problem. Ordered our food to go and picked it up around 3:30 pm. Had a large pie half pepperoni and the chicken fingers platter. The pizza was lukewarm. But the chicken tenders and French fries were ice cold. Had to be the worst dinner ever. Probably won’t be ordering takeout from there again.
