Must try.
Also Debi was very kind and ensured that we had a great service.
The kik alicha (split peas) were so savory, nutty, and earthy. The shiro (roasted chickpea flour) was slightly spicy and quite hearty and comforting. The okra had a very nice, tangible tomato flavor that blended amazingly with the earthy spices, and the texture was on point as well. Not too overcooked nor crunchy with the right amount of bite.
We did receive additional four 1/4-size pieces of injera on the side (so two 1/4-size pieces per person). I thought that when it came to compatibility with the injera, the stew dishes worked the best (so the kik alicha and shiro) just because they had something that the injera could soak up. But honestly, everything was really, really excellent (other than the salty collard greens) and tasted great either by itself or with another dish on the platter!
The lady who seated us was the owner. She asked if we ever had been here before. We said no, so she went over the menu with us . She recommended that we get the sampler plate. It comes with 2 proteins, and 6 vegetarian options.
We allowed her to pick what she thought we would like. We got some beef and fish for the proteins.
It is served on a big platter, family style.
We used our fingers to pick off the plate.
Everything tasted great. We chose the non spicy version. Maybe next time we might go the with the spicy .
They have many vegetarian options.
Well-rounded dishes. Everything was solid.
Stuffed jalapeños were very spicy but so much more than the sum of it’s parts, it was vegetarian but for a sec I thought there was ceviche or something in it.
Kategna (toasted spiced injera) had paprika and came with yogurt with honey, lightly sweet and rich.
Stews were solid and not too salty. They ran out of fish, but chicken and especially beef were a tad dry.
The injera didn’t have too much of a taste, but also not too tangy and had a good texture.
Probably best nicer Ethiopian resturant around.
The service matched the quality of the food. The staff were incredibly polite, patient, and took the time to explain each dish in detail, which made the experience even more enjoyable, especially for someone trying new flavors. Their attentiveness and warmth added a personal touch that really stood out.
Overall, it was a dining experience I won’t forget. From the inventive menu to the excellent service, everything came together perfectly. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to try more of their unique offerings. This is definitely a place worth returning to again and again.
Our server Debbie was so nice and helpful. Prices were reasonable, the ambiance was a major bonus as well. Highly recommend checking this place out to see for yourself! I’ll be coming back and telling my friends
