Everything started out great. The building has a great outside appearance and the inside has a nice matching decor. We reserved a party of four for 7pm. When we got there it was two parties and we were told to sit where we wanted. There was one server assigned to each room and a younger guy who strolled through within minutes of my arrival who we found out was the manager later.
The appetizers were delish mainly-catfish nuggets, wings and brussel sprouts. The sprouts were a little dry but wings were perfect.
We also ordered drinks which is probably where things started to go left. Drinks were just meh, with a long wait between the two smoked old fashions which came out different colors, different amounts, and different drinks altogether.
Then the food took over an hour to come out with no real explanation. The server mentioned once that they were still working on the larger parties food. That was okay until we noticed every single party that sat after us had ate and left and it was just us.
The other person in the party got the servers attention and asked for the manager and the younger guy reemerged after a few moments.
She talks to him about the service and the fact that everyone had been served and left and not only that we didn’t have any food, we also didn’t have anyone check on us or provide any answers. After a while of talking, he agreed that he would do something to make up for the mishap.
Seeing that we had been there quite some time still, no more visits from the server, we decided to instead cancel everything and go ahead and leave. At which point, everything starts to arrive. My catfish was best to say flash cooked, dripping with moisture. The Mac and cheese and fried okra were good. My spouse had salmon which was cooked until dry and almost burnt on the skin side. The Cajun chix Alfredo was good but the oxtails were another thing. It’s almost as if they ran out of them and rush defrosted some. The amazing looking smothered oxtails we saw on other plates were no more and instead replaced with a ton of unseasoned knuckles. At this point, we took our oxtails and fish home and paid the bill. The server comes and says that the manager has taken 20% off of the bill. No more visits or views of him, no ask did our service turn around, just more of a little kick in the butt on the way out. We paid and left with an understanding that if we ever visit again, it will be after it has been open quite some time.
There was a DJ as it was Saturday evening but I can’t even recall how the music really was. It was quiet enough to have a nice dinner. It’s sad that a check in from management could have better handled this situation but it is what it is and it’s the reason I had to score it like I did. Have hope, it’s still new
This restaurant was recommended by a friend and I’m so glad that we made it.
I had the smothered Pork Chop and the Wife had Chicken Alfredo, both were tender and well seasoned.
I will be back on the weekend to try the OX Tails.
This place is definitely Kodak Approved.
Our waitress was kind and amazing, and the food/drinks came out fairly quickly! However, the food was mediocre at best. We ordered mozzarella sticks to share and over half of them barely had cheese. One stick they served us didn’t even have any cheese! My friend ordered the sliders and said they were dry with the meat to bun ratio being off, and I ordered the shrimp as an entree with fries and mac and cheese. Shrimp was the best part, the fries weren’t even hot (more like lukewarm) and tasted so bad; the macaroni and cheese wasn’t the best that it felt like Velvetta tasted better.
After drinks and food, it came out to $97 even after military discount which was done BEFORE tax and not after like normal. I’m glad we got to try it, but we probably will not return.
They agreed to accommodate my group of 25 for wedding dinner, not as an event ( which they hold), with about 2 weeks notice. We were the only ones there at 5pm as the public didn’t get there til after 7pm. We had 1 server. Request took some time: refills, meals, etc. They also held our cake in the back until we were ready. We got a chance to meet the owner and GM, great people. Their DJ/karaoke was also cool. I do love the music there. I am so appreciative for their hospitality and “holding tables” for me, but I’m sure there is room for improvement too. It is a new business and I wish them success.
