Leslie’s Tavern At Rockingham

  4.5 – 146 reviews  $$ • American restaurant

Social Profile:

Leslie’s is a Chef/family owned restaurant since 1986. We are housed in a beautifully restored 1790 Colonial with working fireplaces and well spaced dining areas. Full bar and Vermont craft beer on draft. Chef ( 50 years cooking) prepares food with a European influence at prices that reflect our local Vermont economy. Although a cliche we do prepare ONLY the best quality ingredient for superior results. Leslie makes all our desserts. Families are welcome. At this time we recommend reservations at 802-275-7809 but not critical. Dress is casual. Great place to stop before traveling to Okemo.. as very busy in Ludlow

We had early dinner on a beautiful evening and sat on the deck overlooking the garden. Extremely relaxing with a nice drink. I got the mushroom soup which was outstanding. Our waitress had brought a basket of fresh bread and warned us it was hot out of the oven. I used a piece not destined for the olive oil dip to eat with the soup.

What a fantastic place we stumbled upon! It was our first time here, as we were visiting for the weekend. We did not know what to expect, but the menu looked great online. We were pleasantly surprised by the cozy atmosphere right when we walked in the door. It has the quintessential antique Vermont feel. We were seated by the fireplace, a wood-burning woodstove. The owner, Leslie, stopped by the table shortly after to greet us. Her husband is the chef, and she told us the story of how it all started. We were happy to chat with her, and hear about everything from the start of the restaurant to the signature dishes and cocktails.

Awesome all around! The couple that own it are so welcoming and friendly it shows throughout the restaurant. The building itself is a pleasure to visit and see inside a nicely renovated old 1800s farm house complete with wood burning stove and I saw a nice patio outside for the summer but the food is the reason to keep coming back! Everything we ate from the bread with pesto oil to the soups to the strip steak special then to the carrot cake was OUTSTANDING! We also had a few Fiddlehead IPAs on draft which were nicely chilled and raising fresh. Highly reccomend making this a stop if your traveling through on rout 91 just mins from the highway and sooo much better than a fast food truck stop. The menu had a few locally sourced products and love supporting small businesses! We will most definitely be back.

Extremely rude when I, who isn’t from around, walked in without knowing they require reservations and then again when I called on the phone to ask a question. For that alone I don’t want to even go. You should be friendlier to your customers if you want their business. After all that’s what it is all about..

Vase the best reviews about this place. And all of them were absolutely true! We ordered 4 dishes of like 4 cuisines, and all of them were remarkable, especially the tomato and cheddar soup;)

This place looked amazing and had seen great reviews however, I had duck, it was so overcooked and tough. My wife got a steak which she ordered med- rare, it came well done and so tough. They retried and she got a steak that was so rare it could moo. Honestly for the price it would be better to get dinner at Dennys.

We’ve had a home 15 minutes from Leslie’s Tavern for quite a few years now, but somehow never made it there for dinner. Tonight, that changed! We had the most wonderful meal, served by the absolutely delightful Leslie, herself! We expected a good meal, based on the reviews we’d read, but what we got was far more than “good.”

Stopped in last night for a quick bite after an event at Grafton Inn. Can not say enough good things, we called ahead to make sure they were still serving and told they were stopping soon but would wait for our party of 4. The drinks top notch, the food was delicious and conversation with owners at the end of the night was fantastic ending.

Traveling through Vermont and chanced upon this wonderful restaurant. The lovely flowers outside attracted our eye and we popped in for a quick bite to eat. We have been on the road for about a week and I have to say this has been the finest meal we have had to date. I highly recommend this restaurant to any traveller.
