The French onion soup was rich and perfectly balanced, with that classic, indulgent depth you hope for. And the mussels? Outstanding. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.
What truly sets this place apart is the care. The team is incredibly attentive without being intrusive — you can feel that this is a small, local business that genuinely takes pride in every detail. The menu is both delicious and artfully presented.
If you haven’t been, you’re missing something special. We’ll absolutely be back.
The liquor license topic warrants discussion. Les Vagabonds now has a “beer and wine” license, and they have a nice selection of both. BUT they have an amazing selection of cocktails made with “wine-based spirits”. I was skeptical, but I tried a Martini, and it was excellent – so I had another. The taste was basically indistinguishable from a fine vodka and there was an alcohol “feel”, but at about 24% ABV instead of 40%+ there was basically no trace of a hangover. I can’t wait to go back and try their Manhattan and Margarita.
On to the food. Their French Onion soup was perfect. Full of flavor and just the right balance of onion, bread, broth and cheese. The Coq au Vin and the Beef Bourgeon were each as good as it gets!
A short list of perfect desserts and excellent espresso capped it off.
We were blown away by Les Vagabonds. And it is open every day for lunch and dinner – plus weekend brunch.
Les Vagabonds is truly a French gem in the heart of Sutton Place! From the moment you walk in, the warm atmosphere and charming décor make you feel like you’ve been transported straight to Paris. The food is absolutely fabulous — authentic, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. We had the lamb shank and the special omelette, both cooked to perfection.
The owner is the sweetest and most passionate person — you can feel her love for French cuisine in every detail. To make our anniversary extra special, they even surprised us with complimentary dessert and drinks, which was such a thoughtful touch.
This place is easily the best French restaurant in NYC. A must-visit for anyone who loves great food, wonderful service, and a cozy, authentic vibe. ❤️
I went to Les Vagabonds with a few friends, and we all had an amazing time! The restaurant is cozy and full of charm, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home.
We were greeted by the owner; what a sweetheart! She not only took the time to explain the dishes, but she also shared some hilarious and heartfelt stories that made our night even more special. The entire staff was incredibly attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Truly great service.
I had the tuna tartare, mussels & frites, and the steak au poivre. Every dish was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared.
I highly recommend this place! I can’t wait to go back.
