Leroy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar – Punta Gorda, FL

Despite hearing there’s usually a wait at Leroy’s, we were pleasantly surprised—our party of 8 was seated right away on a Saturday at 2:30 PM. Spacious, inviting atmosphere and exceptional service made for a great first impression.

‍ Service:
Athena was a fantastic server—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu.

Food Highlights:
• Cornbread (Must-Try Appetizer):
Soft, sweet, and served warm—an absolute must to start your meal!
• Pork-n-Oyster Po’boy Sandwich:
Creative idea, but the combination didn’t quite land. The pork was on the dry side and the oyster flavors were muted.
• Blackened Chicken Po’boy:
Juicy, perfectly seasoned chicken with a satisfying kick. A strong recommendation if you’re into bold Southern flavors.
• Jalapeño Bacon Burger:
Thick, crispy bacon and tender beef. The bacon jam mellowed the jalapeño heat nicely, though spice lovers may want a bit more punch.
• Cajun Burger:
Thick, flavorful patty topped with crispy fried oysters—excellent texture and authentic Cajun heat. One of the standout dishes!
• Chicken & Goat Cheese Salad:
For salad enthusiasts, this was a top-tier option. Fresh greens, tangy goat cheese, and well-seasoned grilled chicken.
• Truffle Fries:
Unfortunately, these were underwhelming. They tasted more like regular fries with truffle oil added post-cook rather than infused throughout.

Overall:
Great Southern-inspired comfort food with creative takes on classics. Some hits, a few misses, but worth a visit—especially for the burgers and attentive service.

We had heard this was a great place for some southern food. Being Florida natives we were excited to try it. The didn’t have some of the traditional southern plates such as country fried steak or catfish for instance. However I ordered the meatloaf, my family the chicken and waffles. We had the pulled pork nachos for an appetizer. The pulled pork nachos were just alright. The pulled pork was very good. The way they served it wasn’t. They had the nachos in a plate and the pulled pork, cheese, and jalepnos in a tiny skillet. There wasn’t enough for all the chips or for two people let alone four. The cheese wasn’t melted. My meatloaf was very good. The green beans were stewed with tomatoes and not southern like you would expect. I was not a fan. The collard greens were good. My family got the chicken and waffles. My son had to pay extra for white meat. What wasn’t fair is that after he paid extra, they brought him one small piece of boneless chicken. My daughter and husband got two huge boneless thighs. They did say they had better chicken and waffles at Metros diner for almost half the price. They said there wasn’t enough seasoning in the batter or something. The portions on all our dishes were huge but so was the menu price. I don’t feel our meals were worth the high price. We have had better southern cooking at the cracker barrel. Sorry. Just not a fan. I would recommend the meatloaf though..it was good.

Although the six of us ordered different dishes, everyone was very satisfied, especially with the salmon, which had a unique pairing. The two side dishes—beans and vegetables—were also delicious. The server was friendly and responsive to our needs.

I thoroughly enjoyed this dinner; the atmosphere was friendly, and the food was delicious. I will definitely come back again.

Good southern food in Florida. Try the buffalo cauliflowers and gumbo. As good as Louisiana. Good portion. A bit Pricy. A main course plus appetizer is $50+ per person, and that’s not counting drinks and dessert.

Service was attentive enough. The bar was busy in the middle of the afternoon and the waitresses were occupied.

Atmosphere of a bar. Whiskeys seem to be a speciality. Shelves full of different kinds of whiskey. You could find seating for family but we didn’t see any families at the time.

We had a large group of 12 & all the staff were great! Seated us in a nice spot, attentive to the food & drinks ordered and everything from appetizers thru mains were delicious & good size portions!
Local catch Mahi & Oxtail, jambalaya, shrimp & grits, stewed okra, brussel sprouts, etc. Definitely worth the stop.

Bonus: live band last night was spectacular & fun!

Thank you for the nice experience!

I started with a maple bacon old fashioned- superb. I had the pork belly steamed bun – the dipping sauce and spicy cucumber pickles on this we’re perfect – definitely recommend this. The best ever braised oxtail! It comes on rice, but I got it over mashed potatoes and a side of black eyed peas. Big portions. I gave service 4 stars vs 5 bc I think they were understaffed – it was very packed with customers. The hostess and waitress were very hospitable and get 5 stars ! I’m going back to try other menu items.

Always fabulous food and service.. But last night was exceptional. My wife and I where at the bar and had outstanding service from McKenzie and Chris had a few old fashions and started with the bone marrow appetizer which we love and are are usual starters there… then we got the special, the Lobster Ravioli… best Lobster Ravioli I ever had in my life… it was absolute heaven.

This place is always on our list of places to go when we are in Cape Coral. We love the menu and service is great! Hidden tip: I’m not a cauliflower buffalo sauce or not, nor bleu cheese fan AT ALL but somehow they make it taste good! All of their main dishes, Gumbo, jambalaya, crayfish mac n cheese, shrimp n grits, etc find themselves in my leftover dishes for an extra meal or two. The BEST of all is BANANA PUDDING for dessert.
You gotta try it !
