Josh, the manager, came to speak to us, and explained the menu, views being on the 20th floor, and breakdown of the food. Russel took care of our table, gave us the explanation of each dish, and helped us with our wine pairing.
Overall, 10/10. Will be coming back, and would love to keep experiencing what Léonie has to offer going forwards.
Food was sub par. Not very good if being honest, but we were just hungry! Bread was said to be sourdough, definitely was not. Wine and rose was decent, but definitely disappointed with their options. Ricotta cheese had no texture, tasted like cream cheese. Salad was skimped and we got half a plate. For the main course, the steak was chewy and tasteless and my “prawns” dish consisted of ONLY ONE shrimp! Honestly so disappointing. One of the desserts was decent, but the other was still frozen. Honestly, we would never come back to eat here! Save your $$$ and go elsewhere.
One of my favorites in Dallas for sure!
Let me start with the bad news, because overall I actually had a great time. First: the pricing. My tiny drink cost more than my entire pizza. Twenty dollars for a drink the size of a toddler’s fist. Meanwhile, my husband’s Old Fashioned was also $20… so either his drink was a steal or mine was a crime. And the pizza? Eighteen bucks. Make it make sense.
Second complaint: the décor. They put booths right up against the windows, blocking the city view like it’s a state secret. If you’re going to have skyline real estate, let the skyline do its job. Kessaku (in the National Building) gets this right.
Now, onto the good stuff. We had a rocky start because the restaurant forgot to assign us a waiter. But Isaac and Josh swooped in like hospitality Avengers and saved the day. The drinks were fine, but the food? The food body‑slammed my expectations. Every dish was layered with flavor like they were trying to win a culinary Jenga tournament.
From the bread with fig vinegar, to the appetizers, to the little surprise bites, to the main course—everything was a hit. The honey and pistachio pizza was salty, sweet, and then suddenly an orange mid‑note came in like a plot twist. And the NY strip? Served with sunflower stalk three ways. I didn’t even know sunflower stalk had one way, let alone three.
It was a full-on edible adventure, and I think I may have found my new favorite restaurant in Dallas. I can’t wait to see what they put on the next menu.
For Primo, I ordered the hot honey & fennel ricotta – it was creamy with that delightful hint of sweet and spicy. My friend ordered the Caesar salad and it looked so creamy and crisp; she said it was one of the best Caesar salads she’s had.
For Secondo, we ordered the 8oz HWD strip – it was good – not great. I ordered medium rare, but it was closer to rare (I didn’t mind too much and it still tasted good), but my friends was definitely more Medium well cooked. The strip had grit on one side of it, so I just cut that part off, but other than that, it was a good cut of meat and flavorful. I enjoyed the sunchoke purée with it – it was reminiscent of a chimichurri.
The star of the show though – the Mille-Feuille!!!! The pistachio with the tart cherries and sweet sugar coated puff pastry – literally was on a way one ride to heaven. It was a flavor explosion on my tongue and I will be back specifically just for that!
The ambiance of Leonie is elegant yet inviting, creating the ideal setting for a memorable dining experience. From the impeccable service to the expertly crafted dishes, every aspect of our meal exceeded expectations. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Leonie is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking exceptional cuisine and stunning views in downtown Dallas. A five-star rating is well-deserved for this culinary gem
We loved the food overall. The crab cake had some lemon elements added to make it just different enough while still being cooked well. The cavatelli was unique with a generous portion and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Even the bread was great. The Ceasar salad was the only thing really missing a little something extra. But that portion was easily split between 2. Their house drinks are all martini variants but they have a full bar. We ordered off menu and they executed our drink requests well.
Valet is easy but turn right when coming up Pearl. Google has you loop around and come in backwards if you are coming off the DNT.
