Reviews
The staff is very welcoming and friendly as well.
Restaurant is clean and organized. Lighting is good. The noise level is perfect! Glad I could easily enjoy a conversation without struggling to hear or talk!! So important.
They do offer valet. I parked on the street with metered parking.
Food:
Did the full omakase for ~$120/person. This includes 3 appetizers (choice of soup), a small salad, fresh oysters, and we had white fish with truffle and a nice sauce. All of these were excellent!
The fish was fresh. However, some of the fish had one note with what at times was an overwhelming ocean taste. I know some people really enjoy that. However, it was distracting from the taste of the fish itself.
Quality wise was not the best I’ve had. Happy that the fish was not covered in sauces. Chef does let the fish speak for itself. Would have been nice to have included more tuna and a beef course.
The uni quality was not great. Maybe it is just me, but I really am not enjoying uni the way others seem to enjoy it. Last item was a hand roll made from Crab. Very tasty, but I was full.
I will mention one of the pieces, the perch, was memorable for how bad it tasted. It looked and smelled delicious, firm white meat, with some darker shades. But the taste was… It tasted like what a boat covered in barnacles looks like.
We did get to finish with a choice of desserts.
Would I return? Perhaps to try the regular rolls from the menu.
We were seated in the covered patio, which was beautifully set up and comfortable. The indoor lounge also looked great, while the sushi bar felt more suited for casual dining rather than a large party. Overall, the ambiance was polished and impressive.
The cocktails were excellent across the board. Presentation was thoughtful, and the flavors were well balanced. Easily one of the highlights of the night.
For food, the appetizers were fantastic, especially the shishito peppers, which stood out the most and were a table favorite. From there, everything we ordered was consistently strong. The scallops, yellowtail sashimi, ribeye steak, and branzino were all cooked perfectly. The steak came out a proper medium rare, and the fish dishes were delicate and well seasoned.
The only dish that didn’t quite land for me was the cucumber salad. It felt under seasoned, and while the lemon helped slightly, it wasn’t memorable. The sushi rolls were good, but if I were coming back for a date night or a smaller group dinner, I would probably skip them in favor of the hot dishes and sashimi.
Desserts were also a highlight. The flan was smooth and well executed, and the candied orange peel on top was a thoughtful and delicious touch.
A special shout out to Chris, our waiter. He gave genuinely helpful recommendations, was honest about what stood out on the menu, and shared his personal favorites, which made ordering for a larger group much easier. His guidance definitely elevated the overall experience.

Overall, Leona’s is a strong choice for both group dining and special occasions. Excellent cocktails, well executed dishes, and standout service. I would absolutely come back, especially knowing which items truly shine.
Price: reasonable
Atmosphere: I liked the decor and ambience
Service: Depending on who you get as your waiter, mine was AWFUL! If you ask for any specialty, he just named the most expensive item in every category. Then, he proceeds to judge what we ordered, making snarky comments like “wow you came to a sushi house and got the bao and lamb.” Another comment we got during dinner was a snarky comment about getting hot sake since it was cold out. He suggested we get cold, when he’s NOT the one even eating there!!
Our server was very friendly and made us feel at home. She even joked about losing her voice at the Beyoncé concert she’d just taken her daughters to—definitely a fun icebreaker.
We all went for the Omakase, and it was such a treat. It kicked off with a mushroom miso soup, then halibut sashimi topped with truffles (so good), followed by a couple of trays of assorted nigiri, and then a crab handroll. Even though we were stuffed, we couldn’t resist dessert, so we shared the chocolate lava cake, and banana puff pastry, and brought the caramel flan home.
All in all, it was an awesome night—great food, great company, and a place we intend to visit again.
It’s a little pricey, but a great upscale spot for a date! We stuck to sushi and got an assortment of rolls, the shishito peppers, etc. I would definitely come back and will add this to my list of Valley sushi spots!
