When you walk in there is a table blocking you from getting to the counter. The menu is out on table and you pick from that. Getting to the counter I asked for something not on menu and was told their calzone does not have ricotta in it. Staff not friendly.
Ended up ordering a small Bianca pie and a small meatball sub to go. The pizza crust was okay, chewy and cheese adequate but all in all it was bland. Sub was small with only 4 meatballs in it. Tomato sauce had a bit of tin taste.
There was no place to sit so no noise level.

Great pizza, real beach town experience!
I’ve been coming to Leonardo’s for years and love this place. Yes, the owner runs a tight ship and doesn’t mess around – but that’s exactly why the pizza is consistently good! She knows what works and sticks to it.

People complaining about “rudeness” are missing the point. This isn’t some corporate chain with fake smiles – it’s a family-run spot on a barrier island where getting supplies is tough and the summer crowds are intense. The owner is straightforward about what’s available and what isn’t. I respect that honesty.
The pizza is excellent NY-style thin crust, and when they say they’re out of something, it’s because they’d rather tell you upfront than serve you something subpar. That’s good business in my book.

If you want authentic pizza from people who care about quality over hand-holding, this is your spot. The locals get it, and once you do too, you’ll appreciate what they’re doing here. Perfect beach town vibe – no nonsense, just good food and no seating.

Good pizza spot on the island. Ended up here after Lisa’s wouldn’t answer the phone and the Dough shack “ran out of dough”. Pizza was good, kids were happy.

Ordered a small pepperoni pizza for my grandson while camping ( he’s a picky eater) and his words Grandma this is the best pizza ever. He took his leftover home the next day for lunch.

5 pizzas was $90, with pre frozen grocery store crust, and their ” white pizza ” was just crust and a small amount of cheese. Oh and again the crust was prebought frozen from the grocery store. The pepperoni had 3 or so per slice and was of the hormel variety

We get the Deluxe pizza,it is absolutely delicious. . I have eaten pizza all over the OBX and this place is definitely one of the best. You definitely don’t want to miss stopping in for a bite. And the owners are very sweet and considerate. I look forward to eating here constantly. Only open weekends though. And not open early or late. But the wait is worth it. I’d travel miles to eat here. And the owners are so nice and food is made with love.

I wanted to give a quick review. Because I spent some time here a few years ago. And the pizza was fantastic. I hate seeing reviews that complain about service and somebody was rude. Simply put, there aren’t enough people out there working anymore, and those that are working are very stressed. Be kind to those that serve the customers like you and I. I ordered their pizza in the height of summer and it was literally just one guy working. He did an amazing job to get people fed! BEST SLICE ON THE BANKS!

They ran out of dough for pizzas and (nastily) refused to make anything else on their menu. Plenty of other options in the area just as good/probably better.

**UPDATE** One year later we come in on Saturday afternoon and I went to place my order. My son wanted a chicken parm sub and the lady said we don’t do subs after 4 pm. No big deal until I asked her to give me a minute to call my son and see what else he wanted. She got agitated. I get off the phone and tell her my order for four people and my nephew was with me and he placed his order, a small pizza and a salad. He asked to add cheese and banana peppers and hold the onions on the salad and she got angry. We should have left but i didn’t feel like driving to Avon from Waves to get food. If youre going to be in the restaurant business, at least be prepared to have people customize their orders. Its not like we changed the order a while later. We paid and I asked what time the food would be ready and she said “HE SAID 7:20!” I was not part of her conversation with “him” in the kitchen. We picked up our food and she never thanked us or said anything. Guess what, that big tip jar on the counter didn’t get anything added to it and we won’t be back. I’ll go to Avon and get food next time.
