upon entering the restaurant, the waiter looked at us turned his head down told us there was a long way there was no empty tables. Meanwhile, we’re in a doorway looking a lot of empty tables. We decided to wait, we did get seated after a while. Other patrons were walking in and getting seated immediately , the waiter That did take care of us and bring us. Our food was very very nice. I really felt discriminated against and we were all the way from Illinois. No one should ever be treated like that ever again.

Lenny’s- still a fantastic, solid choice for seafood on the CT coast. We ordered 2 batches of steamers- they were tender and very tasty! I tried an app of Clams Casino. Sorry but these are so small, and the breading was mushy and tasteless. Not suggested. The New England Clam chowder is rich, thick and delicious. I always add butter and it makes a 10 an 12!
Order the melody of seafood casserole- scallops- tender and delicious. Shrimp very good. Lobster- couldn’t find at first- not enough or big enough pieces- the shredded pieces had little lobster flavor. Understandably as they were in the casserole broth. Maybe adjust the menu to salmon chunks or a white fish and forget the little stringy lobster bits. Everyone else loved their dishes of fresh seafood. 10 out of 10 Lenny’s. Oh and the server and team helpers were friendly, caring and fantastic!

Now let me tell ya, folks — I’ve been on the hunt for the real deal when it comes to shoreline seafood, and I think I’ve just found another treasure to hoist into my logbook: the Indian Head Inn in Branford.

I ordered up their clam strips — golden, crunchy, and piled so high they practically needed their own ZIP code. These weren’t your run-of-the-mill clams; no, sir. These were fresh, tender bites of the sea wearing the perfect suit of crisp batter. And as is tradition with me and the missus, we shared plates — so I got to set my sails into her fish and chips as well.

Let me tell you… that fish? Big as a schooner plank, with a batter that was crisp enough to shatter yet light enough to let the sweet, flaky fish inside shine. The fries were hand-cut and honest — none of that frozen galley rations nonsense — and the cole slaw was bright, creamy, and just the right tang to cut through the richness.

Portions here aren’t just generous; they’re full-on fisherman’s bounty. You come hungry, you’ll leave happy… and maybe with a to-go box for tomorrow’s lunch.

If you’re the kind of person who likes to find the great spots before the rest of the fleet catches wind of ‘em, I’d anchor here sooner than later. Indian Head Inn isn’t just feeding folks — they’re serving up shoreline gold.

What a great spot! Great views from the deck coupled with great food make this spot a winner. We stopped in on the way down I95, it’s a short drive off of the highway but well worth it, and instantly fell in love with the atmosphere and the staff. Then the food came, outstanding! We love lobster rolls and Lenny’s didn’t disappoint. Hot buttery lobster greatness and the fries are outstanding. We’ll defiantly be back probably on a drive with the sole purpose of having lunch there again!

On A Positive Note: I enjoyed the fried platter.

The shrimp, oysters, and scallops were moist, tasty and fried to perfection. I did not care for the batter on the fish but this is most likely a personal preference. I was able to swap the fries for a baked potato: The coleslaw was sweet and creamy.

While I enjoyed the consistency of the pina coloda, I did not taste any alcohol. I will skip this on my next visit. My friend and I shared a slice of pumpkin cognac cheesecake. We both enjoyed it very much.It was light and creamy.

The Verdict: I will revisit this establishment soon.

Update 12-3-24

I enjoyed my first visit so much that I retuned sooner than planned. While the food is tasty, the fried oysters were a bit too soft. They will be perfect upon reheating in the air fryer. I’m extremely disappointed in the pumpkin cognac cheesecake (compare the photos for yourself.)

I deducted a star from my original review. Presentation is important. While I may excuse the whipped cream, there is no acceptable excuse for the missing sauce. I’m disappointed.

Lenny’s was a perfect New England experience. There was a little wait as expected but they have a nice bar on the patio outside overlooking a gorgeous marsh, so the time went by quickly. They have their own Lenny’s lemonade that was tasty. We have both clam chowder and lobster bisque. I think the Clam chowder was the winner of the 2, something with the sherry was off with the bisque but it was still good. Wings were great and onion rings were so good with the dipping sauce they give. We got the seafood platter and it was plentiful! Very clean fry and good quality strips, fish, scallops and shrimp. I would love to come back and try more goodies here! Especially the lobster roll. see u soon!

Pictured is their lobster bisque, fish and chips and lobster roll. We went here on Memorial Day and waited over an hour but let me tell you it was worth it for sure. All the food pictured was amazing and can tell was great quality too. Servers were really nice and the vibes outside were amazing. Prices are very reasonable will be going back for sure!

Probably my favorite seafood joint in CT for fried seafood. My dad and I got the steamers for an appetizer and then the fried seafood platter with whole belly clams. Every thing was fantastic but the scallops really stood out. $32 for the platter that came with 2 huge shrimp, 5 gigantic scallops, about 10 whole belly clams, a piece of fried cod, French fries and coke slaw. Not bad at all. The scallops were the best part today. I’m not a fan of the cod though, there’s way too much breading on it. Tried the New England clam chowder and the lobster roll yesterday. The clam chowder is fantastic. Super chunky and creamy yet also soupy at the same time. The lobster roll on the other hand…..not worth the price. It was littered with little pieces of shell in almost every bite. I’ll be sticking to the fried seafood from now on.
