Not only the food but the service here is just absolutely amazing. The prices are beyond reasonable, and honestly, it’s one of the rare cases where I can say their food actually tastes unique. Whatever they put in their batter for their fried fish is just absolutely amazing, it reminds me a lot of hush puppies. And speaking of the fish, the fish was just really good. Definitely a must try! Highly reccomend the fish nugget plate as it comes with fries, onion rings, coleslaw, and a role. The waitresses here very kind, attentive, and helpful. 10/10

I loved it! If you’re anywhere near Lena‘s Seafood even if you have to drive a little bit out of your way make sure to hit it up. You won’t be. I can’t remember exactly how much the mussels appetizer cost, but it wasn’t much and the portion was huge. Clam chowder was excellent. They have some of the best onion rings I’ve ever had. The crabcakes were really good and there were a ton of them, I think I ate them for three days. Everything was great!

Earliwr this month my mother and I stopped at Lena’s on our way to Ocala from the beach. Casual dining with lots of friendly people. My mother is a Boston native and this place suited her perfectly. My mother ordered the whole clam bellies and fried lobster while I ordered clam straps and fried calamari. They came with French fries, onion rings, cole slaw and a dinner roll. They were large portions and we both had enough left over to take home. We ate the leftovers for lunch the next day. There is a little ice cream place next door and the waitress went and got us ice cream and added it to our bill. We really enjoyed the food and the experience. I paid market value on the whole clam bellies and the lobster but it was so well worth it.

Wife and I stopped here for lunch after a couple hours paddling around at Silver Springs.

While not out of the way (if you’re not in a hurry to get back to the ridiculousness of Orlando) it’s not exactly on the main drag either to anyone who’s either a tourist (like us) or an urbanite (also us)

That said, I have a true love and affection for local food, local people and local color and Lena’s has all three in spades.

Before we get any further, Waze isn’t exactly your best bet naviguessing rural Florida- after all couple of delightful sojourns off the highway into the hinterlands of Central Florida, I nearly threw her phone out the window and set mine for Google Maps, destination Lena’s

Lena’s is absolutely worth the drive.

We were greeted by a delightfully large sign out front in the form of a cartoon whale and the promise of a delicious seafood meal. They weren’t lying about it either.

We walked in and two of the absolutely nicest ladies I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting greeted us and apologized for being in the middle of cleaning the front of the restaurant. It was spotless, like the kind of clean you expect to see a twinkle of light accompanied by a “ding” noise like in a 1970’s TV commercial for a household cleaning product.

As we were picking a table, I asked one of these lovely women what kind of beer they had and she gave me a huge smile while answering “Root!” We laughed, decision made!

The food was exceptional. I have learned in the South y’all do battered and fried in a way to make a fat man weep, but this was amazing.

We had our drinks (soft) immediately and our battered happiness arrived a few minutes later.

I guess local dinner time is something like 230-3p judging by the crowd coming in (ok, it was four tables but the attention paid to every single person in the place made me
Homesick for an experience I can only describe as having been raised with my mother, grandmother and aunt in attendance every day from the time I was born until I was in first grade.

Pricing was unreasonably inexpensive and we loved the banter between the locals and the delights running the place.

I was more than a little amused that as a truck pulled in that one of our ladies moved to a vantage point where she could see the truck’s occupants and confirmed that they were indeed coming to eat rather than “just parking.”

I’ve no idea how this beautiful gem came to flower here, but I hope I manage to get down here again simply so I can visit Lena’s again.

If you’re in the area, you must stop here.

If you’re in Orlando and you’re tired of the plastic immaturity of the resorts, you owe it to yourself to venture north.

And if you’re from one of the resorts and think HGV needs to build here, I’ll personally drag you into the water at the springs and leave you for the gators. This is a lovely trip to a place that we can only visit in our memories and I’m so glad we went.

Seems to be a local favorite. Our waitress was super sweet! Food was really good. They are known for onion rings (they were pretty large, appeared to be home-made – very good, but we came for the seafood). They do have a few broiled options, but mostly fried. It’s a LOT of food!! (Dinners come with fries, onion rings, coleslaw (2 oz) and a roll. We got a full order of scallops and fried shrimp. We got there around 5:00 and when we left around 6:00, this place was slammed!!! Everything was really good!
