Situated in the heart of Valletta, Legligin offers a tasting menu featuring a cross-section of traditional Maltese and Mediterranean speciality dishes. The home-cooked style dishes in our tasting menu vary from day to day, subject to what we find fresh at the market. The dinner tasting menu develops slowly over 7 dishes, typically consisting of local favourites ranging from the traditional stew-like Aljotta (fish soup), through to a variety of Malta and Gozo Tnaqqir (tapas), fish and seafood dishes, and hearty slow-cooked meat specials. The lunch menu shares the same concept but with a slightly reduced number of dishes in order to leave you energised and nourished for the rest of the day in gorgeous Valletta.

The added bonus is you could not bore of the menu if visiting regularly….
The 5-course lunch menu is very reasonably priced, although we went for the premium wine pairing that added considerably to the price.
Our host was very knowlegible about both the local food and wines that were served up. The lunch began with an assortment of small plates, followed by a fish soup (bream), pork pasta, rabbit stew and a selection of sweets. The service speed was just right, being not too slow or fast, giving us a chance to fully savour each course.
All in all, this was a very reasonable way to try very nicely cooked local fare in a cosy, comfortable restaurant.
We didn’t get the wine tasting but sampled some of the half bottles of Maltese wine which was very good. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
We forgot taking pictures of 2 of the dishes, rabbit pasta and small apetizers including cheese, hummus and rabbit paté.
They were followed by a aljotta soup that left us wanting a second round since it was so good, and amazing pork cheeks with potatoes.
We had 4 different desserts to choose from, and asee were 4 people, each one of us got a different one. They were Tiramisú, crème brûlée, white chocolate cheesecake and traditional malteese chocolate pudding.
We had such a great experience getting to try this food.
Would 100% recommend to a friend.
I would love to go back on my next trip!
Caring and attentive service.
Well cooked food with a Maltese theme.
When I am next in Valletta I will definitely visit again.
