Legal Sea Foods – Long Wharf

  4.4 – 5 reviews  $$$ • Seafood restaurant

See fish. Eat fish. Enjoy ocean-side dining just steps from the New England Aquarium. Our restaurant couldn’t be more convenient to the Financial District, Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall and waterfront hotels such as the Boston Harbor Hotel, Marriott and Intercontinental. Long Wharf is home port for many cruise ships and whale watches, while Duck Tours and Old Town Trolleys see the sights and then make a stop for seafood right outside our door. We think a visit to Boston must include a meal at Legal Sea Foods. If you’re looking for some fun, eat in our lounge where you’ll see what’s cooking in our open kitchen. Or, during the warmer months, dine in our patio if you opt for the fresh seafood and fresh air combo.

Specializing in upmarket seafood, this contemporary chain also serves steaks & cocktails.

We got the jumbo shrimp, and the stuffed lobster, along with Dessert. The food was pretty good – my shrimp were overcooked and that kind of sucked, but their clam chowder makes up for it. Dessert was yummy. I think that the biggest issue is that Legal Seafood used to be very classy, the atmosphere felt like an iHOP, it was noisy and full of kids… hard to hear a discussion across the table. Made it hard to enjoy anything else. But our server was really awesome and he did his best to make it a pleasant meal.

Lovely (mostly) seafood restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. Reasonably priced….it is Bahston after all. Meals seem to be priced with 2 sides incorporated. The cod I got was really nice but the portion could have been bigger. Well worth a visit.

For sure need a reservation unless you’re coming at like 2pm on a weekday. Salmon was fantastic and the portions are generous. Great fries and I don’t know what they did with it but the broccoli was SO good. My only criticism is that the two person tables are really tiny so it’s easy to knock things over.

The seafood sampler platter never dissapoints and the apps are delicious. As you might guess, sandwiches and burgers here are so-so. Found out that the kids meal portion size is huge, fyi (and not so great). Typically a good time, though

The views at the long wharf made for a very casual dining experience. The stuffed lobster was overdone causing the lobster meat to stick to the shell, whilst the stuffed seafood was overly breaded. The fisherman’s platter was seasoned well but again too much breading masks the actual seafood. Lobster Mac and cheese was tasty

Great food and atmosphere. Our server was wonderful, but he was just assigned too many tables. He was hustling like crazy, but still missed a drink order (it sat at the bar for ~10 mins) and wasn’t available a few times we needed him. 100% management’s problem, not his. Maybe it’s under staffing, but they could have done better for him, and for us.

Very awesome experience on Long Wharf. First night in Boston and we got a table outside overlooking the harbour. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Very cool way to enjoy the catch of the day! I highly recommend the stuffed Lobster which is breaded with tiny shrimp, very scrumptious, paired well with a pint of Samuel Adams. Followed by a tasty Bostonian dessert favourite Boson Cream Pie… Cannot visit Boston without having the cream pie in my opinion. It was a wonderful meal, compliments to the kitchen and wait staff for a very pleasant Bostonian dining experience!

Legal Sea Foods has a great location right on the wharf. Stopped in to take advantage of oyster happy hour from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. theur select oysters are $2 a piece and a good value. We did feel that we had better oysters throughout our trip in Boston. Kids burger was very plain with cheese. Luckily their fries were very crispy and kid satisfying. Lobster bisque was very creamy, more of a chowder… be sure to ask for the garlic rolls to help scoop up the bisque. What they lacked in food was made up by our server. Staff was very quick and accommodating. Beers and wine are refreshing and would try other Legal Sea Food menu items next visit. Joke to the kids, this was the freshest seafood selected from the Boston aquarium… enjoy!

Overall I enjoyed my visit. It was around noon on a holiday and the place was busy. Staff were as attentive as they could be considering the rush. I ordered the crab cake platter. Scallops and shrimp were perfectly cooked. The rice pilaf was okay. Crab cake was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce that came with it was delicious! I’d recommend giving them a visit!
