Legacy Tokyo was a last minute choice for dinner, but I’m glad I gave it a try. It’s comfortable and cozy without being too fancy inside, and the staff was friendly. They got my beer order wrong, but since I got bottled beer I ended up getting two for the price of one. I got the takoyaki with an order of the miso ramen. Both dishes were good. I can’t say it was the best Japanese food I’ve ever had, but it was tasty and they stayed true to the original dishes. I wouldn’t have any issues eating here again. Give them a try if you enjoy Japanese cuisine, and you probably won’t be disappointed.

This was one of my first experiences with Japanese cuisine, and it was delicious! We got the pork ramen and a pork rice bowl; both were excellent. The taikaki and mango and sesame mochi were amazing as well. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, and the staff seemed very pleasant and answered our questions graciously. Definitely will be returning

My good friend and I were out so I could Christmas shop for my wife nearby when we noticed that Legacy Tokyo had finally opened! Our server Rachel was such a kind server getting us green and black tea to our delight and paired it with karaage and takoyaki.

The karrage was very well balanced and the sauce had lovely sweet and spicy high tones that just wakes up your appetite. I wanted them to just be crisper but I could just need to order sauce separately. (4/5)

Takoyaki was out of this world, the whole bite is waves of experience from the textures of the crispy bonito flakes and the mix of sauces it leaves you wanting more every bite.
(Highly recommend 5/5 )

( Tip for tea lovers; sipping the black tea after a bite will make their mayo feel brighter. And green tea meets the katsu sauce at a nice middle ground ☕️)

The spicy karaage bowl was a delight, at first I was unsure of the greens that were a layer between the rice and chicken, but after having already stuffed my face with fried chicken, it was so refreshing on the palette(it also felt like it made more room in my tummy personally). I will say I was just a little disappointed in the spicy Satudon. Flavor: Perfect .It could be that I have a higher tolerance or am just addicted to spicy foods but I would love if it could be more bold in its heat! (I think it was also help the peanuts shine because they felt more like an added texture than they did a heat diffuser. 3.8/5)

The chicken katsu is a classic Japanese dish served over rice. Their katsu gives a perfect insight of the vision Koichi and Sutadonya had when bringing Japanese food near the heart of Indianapolis. The savory, sweet gravy drizzled over the juicy chicken had our tastebuds dancing! (4.5/5)

Their corner looks small but packs a punch. The calm cool lighting, generous portion sizes, a clear view of their kitchen and the inescapable scents filling the place gave us a great respit from the cold. It surely is a dining that we couldn’t help but share. Stop by and support this local business!

(PS: there are cute lazy cat chopstick holders, do your best not to take any I sure as heck need some in my life moving forward. Also why did you ready this far?I would’ve stopped. )

My husband and I had a great experience at Legacy Tokyo. Recently, they’ve been building out the factory district more and we’ve been so happy to see all these great restaurants pop up with Legacy Tokyo being one of them.

The food was excellent and super filling. The environment was great as with service we were able to grab a quick dinner before a concert so they did a really good job of being timely with the food helping serve quickly. They were super attentive—overall 10 out of 10 experience!!

Highly recommend. Had an excellent Tonkotsu Ramen. I did request spicy-but I didn’t find it spicy- and I typically love heat. Flavor and freshness more than made up for it! The rest of my party loved their food as well. Sierra was an excellent server, she was friendly and efficient.

Saw this place on tiktok and decided to give it a try. I haven’t been able to find a good takoyaki in Indy yet but this one hits the spot. They give plenty of sauces, which I really appreciate. Miso soup is also good.

The star of the show would have to be the katsu chicken with curry plate. This plate is HUGE and can easily be splitter between 2 people. I also haven’t had a good Japanese curry lately and it was super good here. There’s thin sliced meat in it. Overall 10/10 would come back again

The vibes here are so chill. Service was great and the food took some time to prepare so I knew it was going to be fresh. The takoyaki was incredible. So crunchy on the outside and melt-y on the inside. I was recommended the pork sutadon rice bowl and it was so flavorful. Excited to come back and try the curry!

We went for lunch on a Monday during their soft opening. I ordered their Tofu salad for a small lunch and my partner got their Yakisoba. We are vegetarian and they accommodated us by subbing tofu in the Yakisoba and said we can sub tofu in their curry, too! We offered some feedback of very minor improvements and the manager well welcomed this. We’re glad to have them in our neighborhood and plan on going back to try more dishes!

I was debating between a 2 & 3 stars for this review. The 3rd star was given only due to the staff being very kind, friendly, and even refunded the meal.

To start we came in for dinner – the host asked if we had a reservation and we shared we did not. The host shared they did not have availability to seat us and we asked how long a take out order would be and was told 15-20 min. So we decided to place the order. Unfortunately the food took well over an hour and the tables sat empty. The restaurant is very small inside so unsure if they are worried about timing for tables or what the reasoning was for not seating us.

As my fiance and I love traveling to Japan we were hoping to find some authentic food in Indy. Unfortunately the curry only has onions in it – it does not have a single potato or carrot.
The katsu for 15$ and curry for 18$ ish is three cups of white rice and a protein. Overall the price of the food for what you get is a little steep, throwing a few veggies in there would make it feel a bit more bang for your buck.

Our takoyaki also didn’t have any sauce on them 🙁 however they did taste good. The chicken itself was very good, the breading, texture, and taste were great. Really like that they have a vegetarian curry option again just wish the curry wasn’t just onion and no other veggies.

It seems there needs to be some logistic changes and menu tweaks. Hoping that these things can be worked out and will be checking reviews every so often.

I finally was able to stop by for lunch with some coworkers. I ordered the Chicken Karaage and they ordered the ramen. The food was not extremely fast, but the quality was outstanding. The wait was worth it, so keep that in mind.

The chicken was tender and expertly cooked, and I absolutely loved the sauce they use. The portions were plenty and my coworkers said the tonkotsu and miso ramen was delicious.

Ill be back for sure!
