I was really disappointed with my visit to Legacy Eatery here in Grove. I came in because of the great reviews, but unfortunately my experience didn’t match them. My burger was burnt to the point of being hard and inedible—no big deal, things happen. However, when I kindly brought it to the attention of the blonde woman behind the counter, she responded with a lot of attitude and came off as hateful, despite me being polite and respectful. With so many positive reviews, I expected much better customer service. I’m not saying don’t check it out, but unfortunately, I won’t be coming back.

I counted, there were 10 friends/family members with their children running around the EXTREMELY small space. 8 customers, including myself. It took about 45 minutes to get my dinner which was the special; catfish, onion rings & coleslaw. Neither the catfish or onion rings were salted when they came out of the fryer. The fish portion was more more than necessary. I understand large portions but this was over the top too large. I tried hard to find anything good about their food but just couldn’t. They say they use locally sourced food. I guess Walmart pre-breaded frozen catfish is locally sourced when you are on Grand Lake. The onion rings appeared to be hand-made but had an off flavor as did the coleslaw. The hush puppies were very small & not that good. The hush puppies might have been the best tasting part of the dinner. I do NOT recommend this place if you’re looking for a good catfish dinner.

This place has a wonderful catfish platter. It had enough fish and onion rings for 2 people. Cole slaw was great too. It tasted like it was homemade. Onion rings looked and tasted homemade too. Our server was friendly. I would definitely go back.

Stopped by The Legacy this evening to get some “take-out” for dinner tonight. Called ahead and ordered – The Catfish Dinner with Homemade French Fries & Homemade Onion Rings. HOLY SMOKES the entire meal was incredible. The even threw in some complimentary hush puppies. Oh by the way – my wife & I shared the meal there was so much food. We’re going to do that again real soon. You should go as well. Take a friend and spread the word – The Legacy has got it going on – the place was packed and the owner was in there visiting with the patrons. Just go there. You’ll love it !

Legacy Eatery is a nice little diner situated in Grove, OK. It is not far from Grand Lake.
I was surprised by the amount of food options they had to offer. I personally ordered the chicken fried steak dinner. It was a nice sized portion. It came topped with peppered gravy, two half slices of toast, with a choice of 2 sides: I opted for mashed potatoes and the onion rings.
The chicken fried steak was fairly tender, I enjoyed it. The onion rings were cooked in a home-style batter. They used big sweet onions, and the flavor was good. There wasn’t anything special about the mashed potatoes and gravy, but it was good, too. The toast, however, was too greasy for me to even eat. Some may perfer it that way for the flavor. It just was not for me. That’s okay.
Do keep in mind that the diner is small, and if you blink, you will drive right past the restaurant. There is not much seating available. I would recommend checking their hours of operation and seeing what their busiest times are, so perhaps you could avoid the rush hours if possible. You may even be able to call ahead and ask how many tables or booths are available if you are planning on going as a group.
I went as a party of two on a Wednesday at 7:00 PM for dinner, and we did not have a wait, but we did acquire nearly the last booth available. Our service was paced fairly normal, and the waitress was polite.
Also, because it is a small diner, you can feel the heat coming from the kitchen. Be sure to dress comfortably. They do have extra fans stationed in the diner, but as mentioned, the warmth is noticeable. If you are going for dinner while the sun is setting, you’re going to feel that as well during the summertime.
Overall, Legacy Eatery is worth checking out if you’re in the area and would like some country style dining. Hope you enjoy!

The owner was incredibly nice. The food is fantastic! Upscale American diner style cuisine. My fried mushrooms were hand battered. Fish and chips were amazing and a huge portion. It is small inside, but I had no issues getting a table by myself and had excellent service from the whole staff. I’m not from Grove, but I work in the area, and I would love for this place to be in my hometown. Kudos to the new chef and owners. I’ll be back.

Great little place, when I say little that means not a lot of tables. Don’t plan on taking a big group and sitting together. That said, absolutely take a big group and enjoy the food. Probably one of the largest burgers around. I had the Cheyenne Burger. It was hearty and good. My only complaint was how messy it was with the spicy BBQ sauce. That, however, is a personal perspective. I’m not a big fry person but these were done right. They are thick, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were well seasoned but I’m a dipper so I can’t say how much the seasoning gave to the fries. My wife thought they were good.
My wife had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and fries okra. She loved the okra, thought it was one of the best she’s had. She also love the chicken fried steak and potatoes. The steak was thick and not over breaded. The breading was light and crispy, where the gravy didn’t cover it, and had a mild flavor. My only complaint when I tasted it was the gravy. In my opinion it could use some flavor, the salt and pepper on the table can add that flavor but nothing like having a good peppered gravy. Again, that is a personal preference so please don’t let that detract you.
The service was great, when our server was tied up another came to check on us. When we were finished we were offered to go refills on our drinks which I think was great.
And honorable mention goes to the fries pickles. It is only honorable because we didn’t have them, only saw them go by, they looked great and didn’t appear to be the typical premade frozen kind.
If you get a chance try them out, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

The quality of the food is usually excellent, which is why this experience was so disappointing. We ordered four catfish meals and drove home to Commerce, only to discover that the order was incorrect and not something we could eat. As a result, we had to find another dinner option once we got back into town.
Unfortunately, the woman who took my order—and later spoke with me by phone—was not polite during either interaction. In contrast, the owner has always been consistently friendly and assured us that our next order would be correct. However, on two separate occasions when we attempted to place another order, we were told they were not accepting call-in orders.
We truly enjoy the food and hope for a smoother experience in the future.
