We were not impressed. Server was not great. He did not offer any suggestions when asked. He said that he liked the gnocchi because it was squishy and all the entrees are good. I feel like he needs a little bit better training. I asked for a box and had to remind him after 15 mins of him forgetting. I don’t even know why I asked for a box (I think out of habit) but as you can tell from the pictures, my avocado on my sandwich was brown is some places. My milk stout was good, but that’s due solely to Duck Rabbit. *shrug* I don’t think that we are coming here again – maybe to grab a drink only. It was on the expense side but that may have been due to the beers.

While visiting Virginia Tech’s open house, we decided to check out Lefty’s, hoping to support a local spot. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Upon arrival, we weren’t greeted, and after being seated by the host, we waited for about 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging us, despite several staff members passing by. I had to flag down the hostess, who didn’t follow up, so I eventually asked a server who was supposed to be helping us. He seemed confused and passed the responsibility to another server, who ignored us entirely and eventually handed our table to a different server. While the new server was nice, there was no real apology for the delay. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, with only 4 or 5 tables occupied.

The poor service really affected the overall experience. While the food was decent, it wasn’t anything special. The restaurant itself feels outdated, with decor and bathrooms that could use some updates.

Overall:

Food: 3/5
Service: 1/5
Atmosphere: 3/5
Décor: 2/5
Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend Lefty’s based on this visit.

Food was dry, cold, and not very good. Mushrooms were canned not fresh. Chicken and burgers dry with no flavor. Only good thing was their onion rings. Truffle Mac and cheese was gross. I compare the flavor to a milky freezer burnt type taste.

First time visiting. Went for lunch and was seated right away even though the place was full and busy. I had the turkey, avocado with bacon sandwich on sour dough with onion rings. Food was delicious but a little pricey. Will return to try the burgers that my friend had and said was delicious.

Nice place, looked clean and good atmosphere.
Portions are teeny tiny, I paid $15 for the “burger” in the picture.
It’s supposed to have onions and spinach, but there was a total of 2 onion slivers. I make sautéed onions a lot, this couldn’t have been more than 1/50 of an onion… and I guess they ran out of mayo which I requested and was given the most conservative splat.
The fresh fruit cup is composed of canned fruit, not very good.
Bean and corn salad was good but nothing special.
The burger should be called a slider because I could eat it in one bite.
However, that being said, it was delicious. Cooked perfectly.

So some food was good, some was bad, tiny portions for their price, missing toppings/overall pretty stingy with the toppings.

What a wonderful experience! The food was excellent and really flavorful. It was definitely a memorable menu that made it hard to pick so I look forward to returning.

Best Burger I tried in Blacksburg so far!

I waited to post this till I tried Lefty’s twice to see if it’s consistent, and it definitely was! When it comes to burgers, Lefty’s has the best in town. They are served on a toasted sourdough bread or Kaiser roll, cooked perfectly to order, very well seasoned and have that delicious charcoal-grilled flavor. The fries and onion rings were also very good, and our server was friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back whenever I crave a well-cooked burger!

Very good diner-style food with a bar. The burgers were made to order and served on a soft Kaiser roll. The onion rings were great. Good selection of draught beer.

We enjoyed lunch on Valentine’s day. The sandwich special was the peppercorn sirloin melt (pictured), and it was delicious. When we arrived before noon the dining area wasn’t busy, but by the time we finished the tables were nearly full.
The wine selection was adequate, but the beer selection was expansive. Fantastic selection of craft brews.
Lefty’s has an in-house brewery (Right Mind Brewing), but it’s been without a brewer for a while now. Word is that they’re still trying to find that special person to run the show.

Decent food. The waitress didn’t know the contents of the menu and had to inquire each question I had. They were not busy on a Wednesday night and it took awhile to get our order in. I liked getting a pint glass and stickers (great logo). * if I ask for more water, please bring a refill pitcher instead of taking our glasses *
