The she-crab chowder was delicious! The grilled shrimp was fantastic! The broiled flounder was fresh and perfectly cooked not even needing tartar sauce. The bacon onion jam on the fried green tomatoes was so good. The service provided by Helen was spot on and the atmosphere made for good conversation.

Apparently it’s an icon around these parts so we had to try it. Staff was very friendly. Food was excellent but those hush puppies were small and a little disappointing.

C’mon… This isn’t fair to the other restaurants in town… The food here is so good! My parents used to bring me here to eat when we were vacationing, while I was still in a highchair (and I’m about to turn 65). So here I am, editing my previous 5-star review (because they don’t list six stars). The grilled platter (flounder, crab cake, and fan-tailed shrimp) is now my favorite. Don’t ever, ever skip the she-crab soup. Best side dish: all of them, but the pimento-cheese grits is a real winner.

Stepping into the doors of this historic establishment is like wondering into a culinary utopia. They serve local seafood with traditional recipes passed down over the decades. 4th generation restauranteurs with a passion for incredible service and a welcoming family atmosphere featuring changing tables in 2 of the 3 bathrooms. I first ate here as a toddler and my family’s future generations will dine here long after I’m gone.

This was our first time eating here. We went at 5:30 on a summer Saturday evening. Only waited 25 minutes to get seated. Server came and got drink order quickly. Then took meal order. And then the wait started. Really long wait. I got Shrimp and grits. Some of the shrimp was mushy and there weren’t very many. Otherwise it did taste good. My wife got fried flounder and it was only ok. At least the prices weren’t crazy high. Don’t think we will go back. It wasn’t bad, just not great enough to make me want to go back again. There are plenty of seafood restaurants down here to choose from.

This was a Southern Living favorite and we were not disappointed, it was fabulous! We went on a Thursday and didn’t have to wait for seating. Vicky, our server was efficient and very sweet. Our food was served quickly in perfect timing starting with she-crab soup and oyster stew, then grouper (catch of the day) and fried oysters, finishing up with homemade key lime pie. The food was all amazing, fresh and delicious, even the slaw and pimento cheese grits we had for sides. And although they were nowhere on the menu there were outstanding hushpuppies served with starters. Unlike most popular restaurants this place is everything it is hyped up to be!

Visited Murrell’s Inlet for the first time. All the restaurants on the water were crazy busy and we kept driving a little ways and came across Lee’s and they were advertising Charcoal oysters. And we had to try it. We started with calamari and the charcoal oysters. I also ordered a Miller lite. The appetizers were delicious but Wow! The beer was so cold and came with a chilled glass. We ordered she crab soup, house salad, and broiled seafood platter. Everything was so good. She crab was the best we ever had. The broiled seafood was so good especially the deviled crab, it was so good. The hush puppies served hot and sweet. The onion rings are made fresh in house and they are delicious. Oh the coleslaw it’s a classic recipe and it’s delicious. DI’m so glad we decided to stop, one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Hoping we can make it back before we head back home.

This place was recommended by a local, and after visiting I understand why. It is huge! It doesn’t look as big on the outside but once inside it has a ton of seating. A small bar was where we sat to have some very tasty adult beverages. We got to our table about 10 minutes later, I don’t believe they take reservations so be prepared it gets busy. We weren’t sure what to try so we had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. The hush puppies that came as well were delicious. We split the Fried Shore Dinner, it was more than enough for two people and we had leftovers to take home. Of course the homemade strawberry cake couldn’t be passed up and we had to give the coconut pie a try as well. Everything was wonderful. Our server was Leslie and she had the sweetest smile. All very friendly people.
