This big restaurant is situated right in the heart of Dijon at the beautiful Place de la Libération. Le Pré aux Clercs has a nice big terrace to enjoy on sunny days.

We sat inside this bustling restaurant that clearly is well equipped to accommodate large groups of people. We went for the three course menu. At a price of 39 euros, this was a great deal.

The service was friendly and very efficient. We liked the food. Although the tuna could have been a bit bigger and was too oily to our taste.

Price quality this is a very good place to eat.

A beautiful meal in a relaxed atmosphere in a stunning location.
Sebastian and his team were professional and friendly and we had a lovely meal that was beautifully prepared – having stayed in Vonnas many years ago, we were curious to see what the brasserie offering would be like – the answer is scrumptious! Amazing wine list too. Highly recommended.

Average food. Unfriendly service. The creme brûlée was an abomination. The pork main was tough and flavourless. Eggs pontot to start the best bit. Expensive wine list. Felt very rushed, barely put our cutlery down and plates were gone.

Very professional service.
Friendly staff, reasonably price for the quality of the food served. Well decorated. Food nicely presented and really yummy! Recommend this restaurant, the best place to eat on La place de la Libération.

Edit – revisited:

Came back to Dijon after a year – and came back to this restaurant as well. We enjoyed it very much last time and decided to come back. Made a reservation online for an outside table. And good so: Because it was fully booked outside – and our table was waiting for us.

Service again as last time was really caring, helpful and friendly. Our Bulldog was welcome here too.

Had the Le Carpaccio de Sériole and the Burrata dish for starters. Both excellent. Nicely presented with wonderful flavours. The Burrata was really creative, like a foam – a dish you should try.

For the mains we both had the Classique Tartare de Boeuf Limousin, which we enjoyed so much last time. And it was still as great as last time. Really high quality Limousin beef. With fresh, hot and crispy french fries. Had a bottle of white wine with the meal.

Service, food and location. All excellent. And prices for this location more than fair. Definitely will be back here again.

First visit:

Our vacation was almost at an end. And we wanted to get some good Beef Tartare before leaving the country.
This restaurant here is one of many on the Place de la Libération, but has some good feedback and an interesting menu. We booked a table online, to make sure we get a seat.

And it was a very busy day (sunday) at the restaurant. The reservation worked out perfectly and we got a nice table outside in the shade. Our Bulldog was welcome as well. Ordered some nice french white wine and and the mains: Oeufs en Meurette and the Beef Tartare (Limousin beef).

The oeufs are a real local specialty with a nice sauce au Pinot Noir and garniture Bourguignonne (oignons, lardons et champignons de Paris). A great dish.
The beef tartare was as good as I hoped it to be. Wonderful fresh and tasty meat quality. For me Charolais and Limousin beef are surely the two best kinds of beef for Tartare. Delicous. Fries were nice and crispy.

All in all a really enjoyable lunch. Nice location, friendly staff and good food. We will definitely be back next summer to try out some other dishes – and of course some more Tartare.

Bad experience. The main issue was the staff. When we arrived, a woman greeted us in a very impolite—almost rude—manner, briefly saying “you can sit here or there” before walking away. The rest of the staff were slightly better, but overall they came across as snobbish. In addition, the restaurant is quite expensive for what it offers. Aside from the menu, the food was very average and not worth the price. Not recommended.

Good food and excellent wine selection.
Beautiful location
Service was slowish and the server was not always paying attention.
The main dish (beef cheek) would be improved by having more vegetables.

Great location with good views. We stopped by for lunch and had some lovely food. For mains we shared the beetroot salad with raspberry vinaigrette (“Nuage de Betterave au Vinaigre de Framboise”). It was simple yet delicious. For mains we got the steak tartare (“Tartare de Bœuf Limousin”) and the duck breast (“filet de canette des dombes”). They were both very fresh and tasty! And to finish off, we shared the pavlova which is always a good idea!

Beautiful location facing an elegant square with fountains. Food was decent although seems lacking seasoning a bit. We had specials of the day: tuna which was not rare enough to my taste and beef sirloin which was good but a bit tough. The deserts, chocolate tart and tart tatin, were delicious. Our young server was very helpful, friendly and made us feel welcome, so was the host. Both actually smile unlike one middle-age water with mustache that almost spoiled our good impression about service. He seems to be in charge of taking orders with an iPad and behaves very snobbish and mechanical, it’s like he’s processing driver’s license at a DMV. He was quite impatient and almost rude when we didn’t understand we were supposed to select a side dish. But overall the restaurant is decent and the view is hard to beat.

Very strange, it appears the staff strongly dislike the customers. The food was good and served quickly but wow ALL the staff’s behavior was very disdainful. Whether serving or loudly dumping the cutlery it felt like the staff was actively trying to clear the restaurant. I would not eat here again or recommend the restaurant.
