We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, including sushi, ramen, tuna, and izakaya, but this place was the best!
We had planned to visit for dinner, but due to a closed day and a reservation, we ended up at lunchtime. However, when we made our reservation, we requested the dinner course.
Served on elegant tableware, the dishes made with local Sakata ingredients were French with a Japanese twist.
The wine pairing was also excellent, and coupled with the attentive and thoughtful service of our host, Mr. Igarashi, we thoroughly enjoyed a leisurely afternoon (after some research, I found out that Mr. Igarashi is the current company president).
The bill, taken together, was surprisingly reasonable.
It’s easy to see why Kaiko Takeshi, upon his first visit, asked, “Excuse me, but how can such a wonderful restaurant exist in such a remote area?”
This was my first time visiting the restaurant on the second floor of Mirai Ni. I had been thinking of having lunch there someday, but unexpectedly ended up having dinner there.
Just to be sure, I called to check if they were open to solo diners at dinner time.
I arrived at 5:30pm when they opened and was shown to a seat at the very back, where I could see the snowy scenery.
Course menus start at 7,700 yen. I chose the 9,900 yen main course, which includes both fish and meat.
It seems you can also upgrade the soup, meat, and dessert.
For alcohol, I chose a plan that allows you to choose from three types of wine. I left the selection to them to match the food.
The first dish was salmon mi cuit. It had absolutely no fishy flavor and was a hearty dish that allowed me to simply savor the deliciousness of salmon.
The second dish was seasonal Western-style sashimi. The thick white meat had excellent texture and flavor, and even I, who don’t like sashimi, enjoyed it.
The soup was crab cream soup.
The fish was pan-fried sea bream.
The palate-cleansing granita was yuzu sorbet.
The meat was roast domestic beef. It was just the right amount of tender, and the light sauce brought out the flavor, making it a hearty dish that was easy to eat.
We finished with cheese tart, raspberry mousse, and coffee.
The sparkling wine that matched the food, Takahata white wine, and French red wine were all delicious.
It seemed like a more casual restaurant than before, making it a place where you can enjoy French cuisine without any hassle. There was no service charge anymore.
Although there was nothing particularly new, the simple French cuisine made the most of the natural flavor of the ingredients, and it was a happy time that brought back memories of my parents.
Thank you for the meal.
I think it’s reasonable for the quality. It’s a shame the coffee wasn’t freshly brewed. I was impressed by the use of local rice and local specialties. I didn’t realize it was on the second floor, so I asked at the library on the first floor. I was not prepared.
PayPay is accepted.
I ordered the “Lumiere” lunch course, which included hors d’oeuvres, soup, main course, dessert, bread, and coffee or tea. For the main course, I chose the Yamagata beef hamburger steak.
The staff were very helpful and explained the menu to me carefully. I particularly liked the fish hors d’oeuvre (I forget what kind) and the cold pumpkin soup.
They also accept cashless payments, which is convenient.
This is a French restaurant I’ve always wanted to try.
The food is made with local ingredients and is delicious, and the staff keep an eye on the speed of the food, so it’s enjoyable for both those who want to relax and those who are short on time.
I visited after watching a YouTuber’s video.
All cashless payment methods are accepted.
Even though it serves French cuisine, you can visit with a casual feeling.
It is bustling with housewives at lunchtime.
The gasu shrimp soup, which you can’t get in the Kanto region, is a must-try!
The dessert was huge!
The Gaze shrimp soup and crème brulee were delicious, but the wine aroma of the Wagyu beef cheek stewed in wine was a little too strong, and I felt it could have been improved a little more.
It’s best to make a reservation before going.
On the day I visited, they only had two lunch courses available.
Everything was delicious, but I felt like they were struggling with rising prices and their service had dropped a bit.
I apologize if this was just my imagination or my physical condition.
The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent.
All of the dishes were simply outstanding.
