We went here last week, and the food was pretty good. The service was ok, they seemed short staffed and our waitress was trying as hard as she could, but it seemed she was a little frazzled.

What really detracted from the experience though, was being able to hear what I can only assume is the chef belittling and berating his employees from the kitchen in a loud and angry voice while I was seated in the dining room downstairs, maybe 15 feet from the kitchen, separated only by a curtain. Maybe it’s loud in there and he didn’t realize that his guests could hear him, but I was shocked and dismayed.

I felt so bad for her. He was incredibly rude and offensive, using derogatory language to a woman who was clearly just trying to keep her head above water. I’m not sure what happened – it sounded like maybe she made a mistake but this guy was laying into her in a way that made it uncomfortable for our entire table.

She came out after the tirade and walked to the back of the restaurant out of sight for less than 5 minutes, and when she came back to the table she had a huge smile on her face as she checked in with us and our meal. But, her eyes were puffy and red, and I could just tell she had been crying. I wanted to ask her if she was ok, if she needed help, and to give her a big ol’ hug, but I could tell she was just trying to maintain appearances and didn’t want to jeopardize her getting in even more trouble, so I just said a silent prayer for her and tried to be as sweet as I possibly could with her for the rest of the meal.

Life’s too short and precious to support people who treat their staff like this, so I will not be giving Le Parisien any more of my business. Plenty of great restaurants in Asheville already who treat their staff like people instead of animals.

Four thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Le Parisien last evening. The restaurant is small and cozy, and has a delightful ambience. We all ordered different entrees and everybody was very pleased with the food. Service was excellent, and our server paced our meal very nicely. The noise level was good – particularly for those of us who have some age-related hearing challenges. We could actually carry on a conversation at our table which was a pleasant surprise compared to some other venues in Asheville. This is going to be one of our “go to” fine dining venues in Asheville!

Great restaurant. My girlfriend and I happened upon it by chance and it was the best dinner we’d had in a while. Micah provided great service and Raven mixed up some great espresso martinis, the best we had in Asheville by far. The seafood ravioli was great and the ribeye was also delicious.
Highly recommend la Parisien for an upscale dinner.

In one simple word: Perfection. My husband and I are food snobs and travel to cities specifically to enjoy Michelin Star restaurants. Our meal rivaled our last visit to L’Arpege in Paris. The Chef is gracious, the servers are appropriately attentive, and the culinary offerings make you wish you had the ability to consume more. The ambiance is warm and calming and 100% romantic. Simply perfection!
P.S. You have to order the Bread Service… the ‘butter candle’ is as delicious as it is ingenious!
